Sort by date, artist, and genre, be great for the album view
no plus ones
Thanks for the feedback. We appreciate it.
Currently you can change the Albums sort to album title, artist, year, song count, and date added. But we will look into adding additional sort options in a future update.
Feedback like yours helps us to prioritize our future development plans. I've sent your comments on to our product manager.

- Hi, it took me a while to figure out what the problem was that was causing sort by year not to work. As it turns out since I tag all my music with the format YYYY-MM-DD in the 'date' tag this apparently messes up the way cloud player reads the year. Since this is ISO date string format I would like to make a feature request that either doubletwist/cloudplayer be able to support the whole date string or be able to truncate it to the first 4 digits of the date tag and load that as the year. I am able to work around it but its kinda a lot of programming on my end the get the dates changed to just year automatically. I haven't tested it with other formats but the files I am using are mp3s with id3v2.3 tags.Mar 22, 2017
Thanks for the additional information.
To clarify, you are using YYYY-MM-DD in the "Year" (ID3v2.3 = TYER) field?
Or are you using YYYY-MM-DD in the "Date" (ID3v2.3 = TDAT) field and leaving the "Year" field blank?

Ok after some futher digging I found that since I'm transcoding the mp3 files from flac they are inheriting the date tag incorrectly. Since the flac tagging standard doesn't specify a format for the date string it doesn't get converted properly into the year tag (TYER) and the date tag(TDAT). To make it worse id3v2.4 has gotten rid of the separate year and date tag and now has a "recording time" tag (TDRC)
So yeah I'm going to try to get that sorted out on my end but I admit I have gotten rather confused about all this.
Thanks for your time.Mar 22, 2017
Thanks for the followup.
I'll do some testing on my end as well.
It might still be good to support YYYY-MM-DD in the Year (ID3v2.3 "TYER") field if conversion apps commonly write in that format to the field.
