Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that manifests itself during the first three years of life. It results from a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain, mostly affecting children and adults in many countries irrespective of gender, race or socio-economic status.

While an estimated 35 to 67 million people live with autism around the world, children with autistic conditions often lack adequate support and have limited access to services such as schools and health care. They also face discrimination and suffer from abuse and isolation.
