Received a recommendation to go to Ella's while I was in town and it did not disappoint. The decor was pleasant and inviting. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful when making menu suggestions. We ended up ordering the tenderloin, house fried Chicken , cauliflower and carrots. Everything was good but the tenderloin was exceptionally tender, and tasteful. Definitely worth a try if you're in town.

Couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. Lovely open restaurant with fantastic interiors - a ceiling of shutters, subtle design elements, gorgeous large format dining options with beautiful lighting and fixtures next to a open demo kitchen. The bar is large and has a multitude of types of seating and bar experiences. The happy hour menu was perfect for a light appetizer prior to dinner. We got a dozen of the best oysters we have had, in recent memory. The Beef Tartare was not completely traditional, but delicious and a fair re-interpretation, while not being too outside the box. They even had the Gerard Bertrand Cremant de Limoux by the glass. I freaking love that Brut Rose. Yum. If back in Sacramento, we'll definitely head here versus where we had dinner in the Citizen Hotel.

I had not been to Ella's in a while so I was looking forward to a good meal. On a Monday night it was easy to get a table outside quickly. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about each of the items and when we asked for a recommendation on while he did not just throw out the most expensive wine on the list. He genuinely gave a recommendation and a little history about why he liked it. We shred the arugula and pear salad, peppers (DIVINE... I'm craving them as I type) and the pork chop. Everything was wonderful. I have to give Ella's only 4 stars as it took FOREVER to go though each dish. I do love to enjoy my meal and do not appreciate being rushed but this was a little too slow. We got there at 6pm and left at 9... and it was not busy at all! We were starving by the time our main course came out. It was a little frustrating but overall we had a nice time with good food. I wish I had room for desert. NEXT TIME

This stunning restaurant (owned by the Selland family and designed by award-winning European architects) is a manicured, elegant oasis from the gritty hustle and bustle outside. When you enter, the first thing you see is the lavish seafood bar, offering a beautiful shellfish and bivalves atop mounds of glittering ice. (This is also where Ella's famous handcrafted cocktails are made). From the open kitchen, the staff turns out innovative dishes and old favorites, such as the restaurant's famous pappardelle and poached egg. The emphasis is on seasonal, local, and aritsanal.

The layout of the restaurant is one large room, dominated by a central bar. You'd think this would eliminate the coziness you want for a romantic setting. Don't be fooled, they've done a great job at arranging seating so that large parties are seated further away from coupled diners. The menu offers unique dishes; you will not be disappointed!
