The food was bad, my wife and I got sick after dinner in PUBLIC and were sick all night. The fois gras was mixed with cream and was disgusting. We are french, so it is not as if we just do not know how fois gras should taste.

Super swanky setting with tons of personality: candle lit steps, punch card menus, garage door styled window... Food is also unique and memorable. The venison was rather tough. I think there was a bit of tendon in the cut. Otherwise high quality food and setting for a price.

Public's dishes lend themselves very well to sharing between two people. Everything on the menu is "inspired by travel", but don't expect anything too exotic. Instead, you'll find simple offerings, prepared carefully and consistently. The highlight of the Public experience is the extensive cocktail list. You'll find classic cocktails prepared in a unique way. The often unexpected additions are much appreciated; they keep the drinks just this side of tired.

Swanky, unique interior design. Eclectic menu items, all very tasty. I had to have to foie gras since it's banned in California.

Post offices, libraries and other public institutions are the inspiration for this stylish restaurant created by the New York-based design firm AvroKo. Sleek wood and glass dining rooms abound with whimsical details that include a library of periodicals and dozens of wooden mailboxes which you can actually rent. And there's nothing institutional about the classy cooking; freestyle global cuisine with an Australian bent that ranges from juicy grilled scallops with sweet chili sauce to seared kangaroo with coriander falafel, and includes chorizo mashed potatoes and onion-licorice chutney. Even the friendly and informal service has a Down Under attitude. There's a good bar in back (peach margaritas!) and it's a good place for brunch too.

Awesome place. Far enough away from the touristy part of Nolita, which makes it quieter and more charming. The servers are engaging and professional. The food is unique and great. And finally the decor is one of the best parts - you can either eat in the more brightly lit, slightly fancier part of the restaurant, or in the more bar-menu-oriented and more dimly lit side of the place. I would definitely recommend the latter.

Public hasn't shared anything with you.

People are more likely to share with you if you add them to your circles.
