The Australian label, Why Mary, was founded by designer Janette Laver in 2011 and is known for its fusion of artistic fabric choice and comfortable style. Bold digital prints combined with minimal silhouettes have become a key signature of the brand, offering a unique, organic essence.

Formally trained in design and manufacturing, Janette overseas all aspects of the business ensuring quality and attention to detail, while her daughter Isabel adds a youthful influence assisting with design, styling and colour palettes.

Drawing from worldly cultures, retro styles and patterns in nature, each design individually captures a unique moment in time, appealing to those who like to dress with a difference.

A chance meeting of a UK fashion designer and an Australian branding consultant at a local roof-top bar led to the establishment of the independent Melbourne fashion label, DEVOI.
