Should be 0 stars. Worst experience I've had with any business, ever. We arrived at night, a party of 6, traveling with small children. We had a reservation for a minivan with Sixt. The reservation was made months ago and confirmed. When we called for the shuttle, the driver told us, "there are no cars at Sixt. You won't get one unless you have pre-paid." We weren't sure what "pre-paid" meant (i.e., is your card charged when you make a reservation), and we didn't want to chance losing our car and not getting one at one of the other companies, so we hopped in. We arrived at a desolate and slightly scary-looking location and presented our reservation to the clerk. He told us to wait while he summoned the manager. The manager (whose photo might appear next to the encyclopedia entry for "seedy used car salesman") informed us that there was nothing he could do for us; that there were no cars available. We asked what the point of reserving a car was, months in advance, if they give these reserved cars away. He offered to have the driver take us to a competitor, which he assured us had cars available. So we hopped in the shuttle again. We arrived at the competitor (Advantage), and as we turned to thank the driver after he unloaded our bags, he was already gone, leaving nothing but skid marks behind. We went inside Advantage and were informed that they had no cars, either. Further, we were the fourth party that Sixt had dumped on them that night. Advantage had even called Sixt to tell them to stop doing this, but the sleazy Sixt manager persisted. He had apparently formerly worked at Advantage. Maybe this was some perverted revenge for whatever ills his former employer had wrought (they probably had fired him for being an incompetent sleazeball or something). In any event, Advantage was helpful and understanding. They helped us find a car back at the airport, and gave us a ride there. We eventually got a car, but the ordeal took over two hours and induced much stress to our tired, beleaguered party who wanted nothing more than to get a good night's rest after hours in the airport and on the plane. In short, do not use this car company. You will regret it if you do.

Don't review very often but after flying from England and being delayed and getting to the rental car company 6 hours late we expected to be out of luck and stuck. Thank you so much Waren the bus driver for making my children laugh after what had been a very stressful strip. A even bigger thank you goes Natte who managed to get us into a car and driving home even after we lost all hope. Nice to see that some people still care and don't just pass you over because your not paying the big dollars. Happy wife easy life Cheers Dominic

If I could have rated this company a zero, I most certainly would have. The saying "you get what you pay for" applies here. The price was fantastic, the service, was the worst service I have ever endured. We booked online, prepaid, and were told our car would be ready for pick up promptly at 5pm. We arrive at 5pm. We waited twenty minutes before anyone even bothered to approach us. We were then told that our car wouldn't be be ready until 7:15pm. So we left. I call at 7:15 to make sure the car was ready for pick up. This time we were (rudely) informed that our car had been damaged and we would have to call back at 8:30pm to see if they had a car for us. I expressed annoyance to the rude representative and I was told "It's not my fault you decided to book your car same day." She then told me that I had two options, I could cancel my booking (which would cost me 60 dollars) Or i could call and check back later. I decided I would rather have a 60 dollar charge than deal with this company. The only positive thing I can say about sixt is they didn't fight me this morning about reversing the cancellation fee. The representative was understanding in the fact that I shouldn't be charged if there wasn't a car available for use. Needless to say, I will never-EVER, think about renting a vehicle from this company, EVER again. I would rather hitchhike to my future destination.

First i will start out by saying this was not my first experience with SIXT. I will say it was my second disaster however. I was a frequent customer of this rental until recently. I have rented about 15 times myself, and have always sent my employees to rent here as well. I never had a bad experience until lately. All of the employees were friendly and had seemed like they enjoyed their job. Apparently there was management change recently and from what I've experienced things have gotten worse. The employees are not as friendly and the quality of service has gone down. On my last experience I was renting a car to take a trip for work. The car i reserved was not available.... i was offered a free upgrade to a car with Hail Damage.... there were so many dents in this car it was crazy. I refused this first vehicle offered and they offered to change it to another car... Ok, great..... The second car given to me had bald tires and 63k Miles... i refused this vehicle as well as i did not trust the maintenance of the vehicle if they were trying to give it to me with racing slicks... I was planning a work trip not a trip to the track. I asked to speak to the manager and i was told he was not at work yet but should be showing up at any time because he was supposed to be working that day. (it was 11am) I wanted my money back and left my number for the manager to call. at 2pm i had not received a call so i called SIXT and asked to speak to the manager. They said he had just left to go to a meeting. I can understand that but was still frustrated i had not received a call. over the next 4 days i attempted to call and speak with the manager as I had seen the charge on my credit card and i wanted a refund (i never took the car) Over those multiple phone calls I never spoke to the manager and was informed multiple different things. "Hes at the DMV" "He's in a meeting" "He's not in yet" "He left early".... all of these things just adding frustration. Over the course of the 4 days i was given a name of someone else to call... A lady in the corporate office named Nicky... Multiple phone calls to her as well that went unanswered and not returned. I go back up to SIXT and wait in line and hear someone talking to the manager....so i think "great he's here" I'm waiting to speak to him but hes acting weird i felt uncomfortable so I left and took the the charges up with my credit card company. My employees and I had always had a good experience renting here until recently. Whatever changes were made seem to be for the worse. I've started renting with other rental car companies and do not think I will rent with SIXT again.

The absolute worst experience I have ever had in any customer service . First the booking agent lied straight to my wife's face when he said the rental insurance we bought from the website was not valid and we had to purchase the insurance from sixt at twice the cost , When I asked there customer service about this they said they did honor third party insurance and diden't know why we were told this . We wernt just told that we were talked down to like we were second class people .He told us how was it even possiable to get insurance on a car when they dident know the price of the car .He did this in a loud mocking voice. When the trip was over we were told that they would refund the second insurance that we did not need but were forced in to , the agent told us if a brid crapped on the car we would be liable and we must have it since we were uninsured .The main office approved the refund but they never submitted the form . I called them and they acted like they knew nothing of the matter until we gave them enought of a paper trail to find it even then they after being told we would be refunded they decided to only do half with there reasons being "we signed for it" being told you must have the insurance and that you had no coverage even though we bought it from the booking site , We had to buy their's . If you want to save 10 bucks at the start and have a miserable time trying to deal with them while on a trip and then to be insulted and lied to when you drop it off( then the same person said they did honor it "but " it wasent as good and that he dident know anything about it but the lot boy did ...but he wasent there that day. Bottom line you will pay a lot more in the end and feel like you have been violated and shamed . pay 5 bucks more for good service and use enterprise.

Can not be recommended. Took me 30 Minutes to get with the shuttle to the station. No car in my booked category available. No upgrade offered. Service personal was not very sorry. The car I had to take was 1 not clean 2 smelled like cigaretge smoke 3 was old, full of dents and scratches, interiour worn of 4 tires were worn off 5 had no map of the vicinity Inside. I booked Sixt because in Europe they are premium. Surprisingly here in the USA they seem to be at the entry level with an incapable management.
