Just finished the "Build" phase of Body Beast. Now onto the "Bulk" phase! I've never done anything quite like this before.

I have been attempting to fundraise for a triathlon!

I've been interested in doing a triathlon for some time, and the big thing holding me back was the cost. I got the bike some time ago (mostly for transportation), but I couldn't afford all of the other costs. So I'm asking for help. Please donate if you can!

Now I'm one week away from when I'd like to register, and I only need another $40. This would be my first triathlon, and it's an olympic triathlon. I've never run a marathon or half before either; I am quite fit; I've just never done the endurance thing. The race itself will be the day after my 31st birthday, on September 7th. I've planned out a 12-week training to begin June 16th. The reason I'm doing this so early is that this is a pretty high profile race that sells out, and the registration price increases on April 1st.

Just finished Focus T25's Alpha Cycle!

Even as an Insanity graduate, that last day of Total Body + Lower Focus doubles was not easy.

I tried this thing last night. It's an avocado, partially hollowed out, with an egg inside, and baked.

It wasn't bad, but a baked avocado just tastes like a hot avocado, and the egg just tastes like an egg, so it's a bit of a waste of an avocado if you ask me.

Yeah, raw avocado can't be improved upon.

I need help from any swimmers or triathletes in this group!

I'm a pretty fit guy, and I decided that this year I would do a triathlon. However, I've never done any swimming before (outside of recreationally splashing around in a pool or at the beach; I mean I've never swam for exercise). I thought it couldn't be that hard, so I watched some YouTube videos on proper form and looked up a series of drills for making up a swimming workout and headed to the community pool to swim laps for the first time in my life.

Well, it was way harder than I thought. I was utterly unable to complete the drills, given that I would be completely out of breath and my heart would be going at quite a rate after every 50, so that I had to take multiple breaks. It was exhausting and I was very slow, and I could feel my form falling apart as I continued. I stuck it out for 30 minutes, because that's what I told myself I would do, but I didn't do nearly as many laps as I thought I would.

So... what should I do? Should I just keep going and get better as my body gets used to this new kind of exercise? Should I find a trainer (I'm very, very poor and so I really don't want to do this if I can avoid it)?

Also, does anyone know of any videos that really take you through a swimming workout? Like, how to warm up, when and how to stretch, how to cool down, etc? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not a swimmer but I have done swimming for cardio. And I recommend keep doing the drills at least 3-5 times a week. Also swimming is a lot of back' shoulders and abs. So if you hit up the gym also and do some weight training at a high pace to keep your heart rate high it will help build some stamina in your muscles for swimming and build that strength for long duration cardio. And like always find a nutrition plan and stick to it to keep your body fit and healthy.
