Remarkable. The brain is wonderfully flexible.

This is the kind of headline you must have to sit on for a good chunk of your life before you get a chance to use it...

A rather thoughtful editorial by Micheal Ignatief. Why did he have trouble conveying this message as the leader of the Liberal party? Why did he fail to communicate at this level when in politics?

+Richard Funk Yeah, the economy and stimulus were big, but the Liberals did not present their arguments in this way. I think Jack Layton was closest with his campaign, more compassionate and caring.

The biggest problem our political system has is that it is too orchestrated, too many handlers, too many polls... I suspect people were never really comfortable with Ignatief as he never came across as comfortable himself; perhaps if he had had the opportunity to be himself more it would not have gone so badly for them. In fact Dion may have suffered from the same problem to some extent. Layton molded the NDP, whereas the Liberal party tried to mold their leaders.

"We will not be lenient with those who work with outsiders against the country."

Oliver or Assad?

Anyone want to start a pool on when we'll hear 'iron fist' in our government proclamations?

Know your place, toe the line, and we'll toss you a dime.

It's not aid if you only provide it while they do as you say, at best it's a bribe, at worst a form of reverse extortion.

If that's what it is, call it that. Don't give aid a bad name.

I suppose this is getting a bit old by now.

Between 1998 and now the CEO compensation, in Canada, has gone up from 105 times the average worker's salary to 189 times...

“The process of paying CEOs is really quite incestuous.”
The richest Canadians are making 189 times the average Canadian wage

I watched a brief interview with Stephen Pinker last night, he suggests we are a more peaceful society now than ever before since our laws make it 'cheaper' to engage in trade than robbery (paraphrasing of course, I haven't read the book). The net benefit is to society.

It would seem the only way to break the cycle is to make it more rewarding to make less... which is probably akin to trying to take meat from a hungry tiger.

If I was a first nations tribe I don't think I would be too happy about drawing the attention of Harper and his gang.

Attawapiskat.

Just saying...
The Prime Minister makes no mention of the crisis in Attawapiskat as he announces his first official meeting with native chiefs
