Do you know where you were, and what you were doing 30 years ago today @ 8:39 AM PST?

I remember, like it was yesterday exactly where I was, and what I was doing. I was a senior in high school and ironically I was in US History class watching the Challenger Space Shuttle launch live.

I think this stands out in the mind of everyone so vividly, because almost every school age student was watching the Challenger launch live. We watched the launch, because this was the first time that a civilian, a teacher (Christa McAuliffe) would be strapped to a rocket, and hurtled into space.

When the space shuttle disintegrated before our eyes, I think we all were in disbelief of what just happened. It was even more of a shock for our teachers. I am not sure they knew how to react after exposing all their students to an 80's version of a snuff film.

When all the dust settled, and all the investigating had been completed, and analyzed. It turns out the accident was caused by a faulty o-ring in the right or starboard side solid rocket booster.
For me, besides 9/11, the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster , is one of the most significant days in history, that I will never forget.
