First time I played this, got terribly disoriented and my side was losing.  Finally the base ship was lost.  Hadn't managed to SEE it yet but all of a sudden the sound effect of a nuclear explosion went off and scared the heck out of me.  The game atmosphere was just perfect.  Did get the hang it eventually and played all the sequels.  Fantastic space combat series.  Pysgnosis is terribly missed.

Scarlet Blade touts the mechanized armor suit as one of those great things you'll love once you get it.  But then you find out using the mech suit gobbles CP so much that it's barely worth bothering.   This whole game is something of a great big tease like that.

Ok so a month and a half later, I actually do enjoy the game.  Easy to play, looks good, and resource consumption is easily managed once the player has some idea what the heck they are doing, which I did not back on July 5.

There is a point where overlooking the content is no longer needed because it's easy to pay more attention to the thing that looks like a bear with electrodes down its back which is trying to kill you.   This sort of thing tends to put the focus back on the gameplay, which I like.   Never played an MMO before so I have no idea where this compares.  But I like it.

Deal alert... CVS has Coke products on sale, 4 12-packs for $10. Which is not bad at all. But buy $30 worth (12 12-packs) and they'll give you $10 store credit/gift card which makes the effective cost $20 for 144 cans. Works out to about 13 cents a can or 78 cents for a six-pack.

So go get your Coke Zero fix. Or Sprite or whatever.

On another topic.. I was wondering if I hook my old scanner radio to the pass through on the sat receiver would I pick up stuff since it goes up to 13000MHz I think.. Or probably all the audio signals are in digital format anyway and the most I would get is pops and whistles..

Just for reference, I built a system like this in December 2011 with a 5# tank. Making a lot of fizzy water, that first fill lasted me exactly two years and the refill was about $15.   The Liquid Bread caps come in red and blue; they are functionally the same. Pro tip: Don't accidentally leave them on a bottle you throw out or you will be mad.  The thing to remember with CO2 tanks: they give nearly full pressure until they are almost empty, and then they drop fast.  So get it refilled when it starts wimping out.  No need to worry otherwise.

Brewing (as in beer, not coffee) supply shops are great place to get a refill.  Note that some places swap tanks empty for full rather than refill. You might buy a shiny tank on Amazon and get back a battered old one at your first fill.  Ask in advance if they refill or swap.     It's a good idea to replace the gauge-tank gasket when you do a refill.  The gaskets are cheap.

Danger factor: if the tank should fall over and knock off the valve body, will empty its contents into the room.  The gas is not compatible with life for you or pets.  Please use care handling the tanks to prevent a tragedy.  A solid, fixed mount is highly recommended.

There was a rather large spent rocket motor on my lawn this morning.  Not often I get to put those words together in a sentence.  Kinda like it.

The new Morrow Costco Business Center hours. They have almost finished changing the floor to retail-centric stuff. Not. Impressed. Unless you loooove boxes of spring water.

Bailed and drove across town to a real Costco. All this does, however, is demonstrate to me that my local Costco has actually sucked for a long time. In the last month, I've been to three other Costcos. These other Costcos have products we never got -and lots of them. The selection is kind of awesome and what I always thought Costco was about. Perimeter Mall store kicks butt. Morrow was just a butt being kicked.

But even when Morrow was a normal Costco, nobody shopped there because the selection was bad compared to Costco norm or even the filthy stinking mudhole Sams Club up the road, and they never fixed the selection because nobody shopped there. Because the selection stank.

Costco has rarely struck me as being stupid as much as now. What do they expect to happen when they allow a store to go so neglected? It would be better if they'd just close it. Admit they blew it. And move on. Peachtree City. Newnan. McDonough. All could use a store.

Meanwhile I will have to get used to northside traffic. Cumberland, Perimeter, Gwinnett, Mall of GA Costo. All bad traffic. Oh well. At least they have stuff worth buying.

That victory lap of the Shuttle Discovery around D.C. looked and felt to me more like a hunter dragging his kill through town to show off. Look what the hunter has bagged! And indeed, the politicians had done exactly that: killed it dead. Enjoy the venison.
