At some point I run out of superlatives so maybe I'll just start saying "that's ok". =P

A photograph from my stay on the Bull Rock lighthouse last year. It took quite some effort to get a shot with only one or two gannets in the frame, and then in the right place!

So, that photo of a 3.5" floppy got me thinking of a conversation we had on the PODAS workshop in Ireland. One 16 bit TIFF from an IQ180 is 480MB. That's 333 floppies. It would make a stack 1.1 meters tall.

If you're old enough to remember punch cards (which I'm not!), then it would take up 4.2 million cards. Laid end to end they would stretch for 785 kilometers or form a stack 747 meters high.

And you thought installing Windows 3.11 was a pain!

3.11 was a breeze. But installing office 4.2 was a pain! That was over 20 floppies IIRC
