We had a new calf born on the beautiful May 13th afternoon. She is a strong, healthy GIRL!  Whew, it all went so easily for the Mama, the baby and us!

I love the way you captured those fields in late summer with the grazing cow activity

herbs for winter
As the nights get colder we have been picking a winters worth of herbs for teas and for medicinal use.  Pictured here;
Thyme, 4 different mints, sage, savory and Calendula flowers
After these herbs have dried they will be mixed with others for mint tea, lemon balm tea, Calendula oil, culinary mixtures for flavoring soups and casseroles.  Visit our blog for recipes and ideas. www.thymeinthecountrybandb.com

So far, this has been a GREAT Summer for Grass!  The rain has been just right.  Not too much to dilute the nutrition value of the grass but enough to keep it growing quickly.  Our cows have been producing twice as much milk as they were in April.  That is a good thing.

After a very long, boring winter of hay, our cows are finally out to pasture.  Almost 3 weeks later than the last 5 springs.  We have also started selling raw milk again from our self service farm store.  Call if it is your first visit to the farm and we will show you how it works and from then on you can come any time.

 Fall Thyme Breakfast Idea

http://www.thymeinthecountrybandb.com/blog/fall-thyme-breakfast-sides/

Using a combination of parsnips, turnip, carrot, leek, beets and tiny potatoes
 tossing them in salt, pepper, parsley and olive oil,
 roast for about half hour til toasty and tender,

you can create a lovely and nutritious side dish for your eggs over easy.

I have a B&B nearby and guests who the winery come back full of compliments about the place. They love the family owned feel and notice the hard work and care that goes into all aspects of the wine making process. They all especially love the hard cider and occasionall open a bottle at breakfast to share around the table.

This man knows how to wash windows. No one that I have ever hired for window washing has come close to the his work. When he is done the windows are SPARKLING. He doesn't use any chemicals either. He uses ionized water. He is careful and reasonablly priced.

Don't expect any extras unless you pay extra. They charged for the WiFi which is hard to imagine and it did not work more than half the time. They charge for coffee in the morning and the room is basic. Bedding, amenities,quality of bedding and pillows are no better than your average roadside quality Inn. I would try another place before I ever go back there.

This is the mother of all antique/vintage lighting stores. It in itself is a destination for anyone needing vintage or antique lighting. When you walk in it takes a few moments to realize just how many lighting possibilities there are for you to choose from. The prices are reasonable and the selection can be overwhelming so be sure you have plenty of time and Money because you will probably find more than you ever thought you could use here.
