Saint Marcellus' flood or Grote Mandrenke
Weather is an interesting phenomena that is rarely used to it's full potential. Even games like Fate, which allow weather to be an Aspect of a scene can sometimes fall short in weather.

I really thought +Erik Dewey and I had covered weather and the way it changes game play, but if we did I can't find it.

Saint Marcellus' flood or Grote Mandrenke is a great example. It's a big damned flood. Lots of people died. and towns disaappeared. It was January 1362, killing 25,000+. How would you use this? Would it be wrath of the gods, a cultist ritual, or just the arbitrary whim of nature?

What weather have you used in your games?

Chaosium, Inc. is one of the grand old ladies of the role-playing game industry. The company was founded in 1975 by gaming mastermind Greg Stafford, creator of the world of Glorantha and the Pendragon RPG. The company went on publish the seminal horror RPG, Call of Cthulhu which is based on the works of HP Lovecr...

When you hear about role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, you probably picture a dimly-lit basement filled with people in silly robes rolling dice, but there's much more to it than that. Not only are role-playing games incredibly fun, but they can actually teach you skills you'll use in the real world.

This site is sooo relaxing for a noisy office.
Mix ambient sounds together to wash away distraction and help you focus or relax

Gnome “emeritus” Walt Ciechanowski likes to say there’s no such thing as wrong bad fun. I love that statement. I also believe he’s right. Unfortunately, fun is often subjective and hard to describe…

Note: Minor edits to clear up a point about the Arthurian tales. Many years ago I had been only DMing for months when a guy I knew invited me to sit in on a game he played. He said it had a ranger, a cleric, a magic-user ...
