Reactions to the Amber Alert text message via the Monterey County Herald Facebook page:

Simona Prochazka: Freaked the heck out of me, and my dogs. Not sure it's a good idea to send it out after bedtime. Some of us work nights and certainly didn't like being woken up.

Marc Jones: If one of my boys or your kids went missing send it out at any hour! I could be making a midnight store run and see something and be on the look out on the way home. Thought that was great. It went from text to facebook and Twitter in minutes as well.

Simona Prochazka: Sure, just have a "nicer" alert, it literally freaked my dogs out, and me as well. Maybe have a vibrating alert.

So +Vernon McKnight, are you going to SJSU's bowl game? I'm envious of you and my little brother. I haven't been to any games this year. He's works for the team so he's been at all of them.
SAN JOSE — San Jose States nationally ranked football team doesnt know where its headed for a bowl game, but the situation is gaining more clarity. The Spartans, who debuted in the BCS standings ...

We will be filming this week's video today. It should be up Wednesday or Thursday.
This week on PrepNation, John Devine talks with Palma head football coach Jeff Carnazzo and defensive end Jack Powers, and Seaside coach Al Avila and quarterback Michael Turner.

Here's my final story of the weekend from the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. It was awesome watching the MotoGP bikes and chatting with the riders. Now two days off and then a week of the Bronco World Series youth baseball.

I hope you can make it out to the Red Bull Grand Prix next year. It's by far the biggest profile event at the track each year.

The last local football game I got to cover this year was a good one. Coach Mike Rasmussen has done a good job at MPC the past couple of years.
In Cole Houstons mind, he had at least one more comeback left. But the Monterey Peninsula quarterback didnt get the chance after leaving the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury and the ...

I've seen a 300-yard game before and I saw the Justin Ewing at Capuchino before he had a 494-yard game. Soquel's Fabiano Hale was by far the best prep RB I've ever seen.
There were six lead changes as Carmel fought back from an early deficit, but Soquels Fabiano Hale rushed for 375 yards and six touchdowns on 39 carries as the Knights beat Carmel 49-42 at Pacific Gr...

I chatted with “The Dean of NFL Referees,” Jim Tunney a few hours ago about the replacement officials and the Packers/Seahawks game.
Pebble Beach resident Jim Tunney has seen his fair share of football games. He was an NFL official from 1960 to 1991, working a record 29 postseason games.

Here's my story from last Friday. Monterey (3-0) faces a 1-2 Palma team on Friday to start MBL Gabilan play.
For at least a little while early on, Pacific Grove was able to hold its own against Monterey. But the Toreadores kept pounding away at the host Breakers on both sides of the ball and ended up with ...
