Interesting design choice, the suicide bombers are annoying but only if you're not moving enough. It's an attempt to show you right from the start that if you play this like call of duty it won't work. You have to play it like doom. :) pretty awesome game

Wonderful review, nice to see someone put together the kind of thoughtful analysis that's been weirdly absent from video games as an art and industry. Currently working my way through your back catalogue and have to just say thanks for your work. :)

A better plot for the Krypton bit of the movie: So Kryptonians are aware of the ridiculous power that yellow suns give them. In the past they went out to colonise the universe but as a race of god's they were just too powerful and ended up destroying civilisations and entire species and planets, there will always be people like Zod and to ensure they didn't cause any more destruction they exiled themselves on Krypton where they had no power. Now they live out their days being scientists and philosophers and boring stuff like that.

Now it makes sense that they don't want to leave, as penance for the death they have caused and because they are wise in knowing that if anyone gets off the planet the power they would hold is too much for anyone to handle.

Jor-El wants a Kryptonian to live because he has hope that all their power can do good and Zod wants to leave the planet because it's ridiculous that gods should let themselves die for the protection of lesser beings.

They both succeed in their goals and Superman and Zod have to eventually battle and Superman learns a bunch of lessons about doing good and not abusing the power you have over others yada yada

..and there you have a nice moral set up for the movie, can anyone be responsible enough to handle supermans power? is it a sin to deny your potential to do good for fear of doing bad? Is Jor-El doing good by saving his child or is he endangering the entire universe?

There...I'm a better writer than Goyer already :P

It's better just because it's something.  As far as I can tell, Man Of Steel isn't anything.  People have informed me that there's some kind of thing in the movie about preventing Earth from repeating the errors of Krypton; I didn't catch it though, and somehow I doubt that excessive subtlety is one of this movie's problems.

I think you really do have to consider the avengers in iron man 3, not to give avengers a place to go but because they exist in the same world, Starks actions need to make sense in that world.

I liked that the events of the avengers were considered in stark's anxiety...sadly it was handled terribly because it disappears for no reason. Stark should of learned to deal with his worries of things bigger than humanity and our new vulnerability but still kept the suits because not having them puts pepper and humanity in direct danger when aliens invade again...which is now a direct possibility if not likelihood.
