"The term "genetic modification" really refers to the unnatural process of taking genes from ones species and using a special gun, viruses, or bacteria to inject it into another organism. This process could never occur naturally in nature. So the genetic modification we're talking about when it comes to seeds and genetically engineered ingredients in our food—we're talking about this completely unnatural process."

The 11 states that get more than 7% of their electricity from wind energy have seen their electric prices decrease by 0.37% over the past five years, in contrast to all other states, where electricity prices have risen 7.79% during the same period.

A threat to an organic farmer anywhere, is a threat to all organic farmers everywhere! Organic Farmer Steve Marsh's fields were contaminated with Monsanto's patented GMO genes, he decided to fight back! Stand with Steve Marsh today!

hmm.. I strongly support the #stopmonsanto movement... but calling it "FoodDemocracy" seems to me to be a bit flawed. Food cannot go and vote and if the statement is meant in a way that a majority of voters get the (patent)right to use it, it still excludes a minority that should have equal access. .. Or?

Google today backed legislation which would roll back NSA's bulk surveillance activities.   The bill is named The USA Freedom Act and it is backed by many legislators.   Over 40 major companies and internet freedom and privacy groups back this legislation.  Today is billed as "The Day We Fight Back." Concerned citizens are urged to write to their congressmen and women or call them.  Most members of Congress have web sites where they accept communications from their constituents and others.   Today is marked to oppose NSA surveillance as an honor to internet activist Aaron Swartz who hacked into a library website which stored back issues of many important journals.  It was already available at the library.  He was charged under Federal anti hacking law and committed suicide rather than facing trumped up charges.  He was also very concerned over NSA Activities.    Many companies like Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook, and AOL signed a a public letter applauding the work of those sponsoring the USA Freedom Act.
