Had a great conversation with +K Tempest Bradford  about netbooks and the evolution of small notebooks on The Write Gear podcast
Many authors prefer to write on small, light, and inexpensive laptops they can carry everywhere. I talk with Liliputing's Brad Linder about the best of them

I’ve been a fan of podcasts for the past decade, but despite having a background in radio, it’s taken me a while to get around to launching my own: as a professional blogger and radio p…

How not to pitch a guest post (and yes, this is copied and pasted from a real email):

"I was wondering if you would consider publishing an article related to your site's theme? It will be an original piece of content unique to your site and will make sure that it will look natural on your site."

This is about the same as submitting a cover letter for a job that says "I'd like to apply for a position with your organization. I believe my skills and experiences make me a good fit for the job, and I feel passionate about your company and the work that you do."

At least take a few seconds to acknowledge that you have any idea what topics our publication covers and demonstrate that you have expertise in a related topic.

This bakery around the corner from me makes ridiculously good sweets... and also happens to make them using vegan, gluten-free, allergen-free ingredients. They're crowd-funding a cookbook.

Thanks! I've got a few of last year's variety coming up in the compost pile. If any of the new tomato plants don't make it, I might try transplanting one of those. They were awfully tasty. :)

+Brad Linder rounds up some early reviews of the Oculus Rift.
2016 is set to be the year of virtual reality. Sure, you’ve been able to strap a smartphone to your head to watch 360 degree videos and explore interactive content for a few years. But this year some of the most ambitious consumer-oriented VR devices are launching, starting with the Oculus Rift, which is shipping …

After a decade writing about technology for the web and more than 15 years of working in radio, I've finally brought the two together. The result? A new podcast featuring interviews with people doing interesting things in tech. LPX Show. I call it LPX, because I wanted a name that's sort of ...

Two years ago I decided to get up off my butt and stand at attention while working. But while my DIY standing desk helped my posture and attention span a bit, it didn't make up for the fact that as someone who works from home, there's a lot of inactivity in my routine.

That's okay, because I've developed a taste for smaller berries... but at least one of our plants has a tendency to produce strawberries that are more tart than sweet. They're still pretty tasty, but since I can't remember which plant it is that does that, or which berries, every time I bite ...
