Jenna Moran, writer for the Nobilis RPG and Hitherby Dragons, is having a Kickstartery-thing to obtain editing and art for three story collections! She's a wonderful storyteller who writes exciting tales about epic themes like the meaning of suffering, how to forgive people who hurt us, and the Ninefold Pirate Path ("Right pillaging! Right looting! Right consumption of rum!...)—support her if you can!

Some of my favorite stories:
"The Alphabet Game": (A is for Apocalypse!)
"Darkness": (Undead cowboy showdown!)
"The Sword of Love" (heck, read all of Chapter 5 of The Island of the Centipede): ('Tara’s master had always said, “Don’t become a pirate and sail around trying to force enlightenment on people. That’s not the Buddha’s way!”')

GMs and adventure writers, take note—when you're arranging rooms in a castle, mansion, keep, or what have you, make sure the flow of rooms makes sense! No one who's higher ranked than a servant should have to pass through the servants' quarters to reach their quarters/workspace. Similarly, servants should not need to pass through formal halls or official meeting rooms to get to kitchens, laundries, etc.

Particularly chilling, given that the DHS is already treating the Occupy movement as terrorism:

"The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world... The power is so broad that even U.S. citizens could be swept up by the military and the military could be used far from any battlefield, even within the United States itself."

"Sadly, Americans this week have come one step closer to being true brothers and sisters of the protesters in Tahrir Square. Like them, our own national leaders, who likely see their own personal wealth under threat from transparency and reform, are now making war upon us."
You need to spread this around, with special attention to your friends and family who are buying the forced narratives that have now been deployed.

Of course this had to come from the British media. Our media is far too compromised.

Was there just a Ravelry mass-migration onto google+? I had a dozen knitters/fiber artists encircle me in a few hours today!

Rough Science is probably one of my favorite shows ever made: scientists are marooned somewhere (Mediterranean island, NZ wilderness, etc.) and given 3 days to solve a variety of scientific challenges. In Episode 1, for example, they had to create bug repellant, determine their latitude and longitude (without watches, phones, or landmarks), and build a radio, all from raw and scavenged materials (ok, and a bit of galena and an earpiece, but still). Hot.

So I decided to follow some random stuff on Sparks to test it out, and thus am now following bibimbap. Which is how I found this government-sponsored food porn video of a K-pop star (who happens to be Stephen Colbert's nemesis) explaining bibimbap to an English-speaking public who clearly would really love Korea if they only knew it better.
