In November of 2016 I met Dylan Rothbein at a disability related event on a campus. I was happy to discover he was a professional filmmaker and knew how to audio describe film. He also informed me that he had autism and dyslexia and was interested in disability rights and #neurodiversity. We agreed that Dylan would audio describe our 3 previous Crip Video Productions films. I met with Dylan regularly in the winter of 2016 and spring of 2017 learning about audio description from him as he recorded the audio. He taught me a lot about autism and dyslexia. I have had some experience with children who have autism but it was nice to hear about autism from an adult with the condition. Dylan and I finished recording the audio description on April 6th 2017 for our blind and low vision fans who requested we ad audio description to the films to increase #accessibility. We expect to release the audio described versions of all 3 of our previous films sometime in 2018 and plan to ad audio description to all future films including our newest project “A Stroke Of Endurance”. Then Dylan shared his film plans and music with me and I quickly discovered we had somewhat similar life experiences and creative ideas. His work has a style somewhat similar to that of Crip Video Productions.
Please, please check out Dylan’s latest short film titled “Mirror Indifference” online for free at this link https://vimeopro.com/alphabetcityfilms/mirror-indifference

In late February I learnt about the +Crip Video Productions film #astrokeofendurance. In the last week there were two casting calls [or publicity efforts] - one of them is for the second Professor:

http://cripvideoproductions.tumblr.com/post/157585455766/a-stroke-of-endurance-casting-call

"PROFESSOR 2: 30s to 40s. Can be male or female but male highly preferred. Can be of any race. Able bodied. Speaks in loud voice and likes to show off. Is a bit obnoxious."

[What a wonderful character role if you're into those and looking for experience].

If you are in #southbrooklyn #newyorkcity and are looking for a good film to audition in, Margot Cole is a good director.

There are several #extras involved [those who are in smaller parts]. #probono work is the order of the day. Food + DVDs are riders.

Margot, the director of Crip Video Productions can be seen at the very end of the documentary “Enter The Faun” created by Tamar Rogoff Performance Projects now streaming online for free via PBS here until June:

Please Note: Crip Video Productions does NOT own "Enter The Faun"! "Enter The Faun" is copyrighted to Tamar Rogoff Performance Projects.

In Crip Video Productions news, today(April 6 2017) we completed the recording and audio file transfer of the audio description for “Drama Sighted” and “Only Those Who Limp Allowed” and “Crips Not Creeps” for our blind and low vision fans who requested we ad audio description to the films to increase accessibility. We expect to release the audio described versions of all 3 of our previous films sometime in 2018 and plan to ad audio description to all future films including our newest project “A Stroke Of Endurance”. Our director also had the pleasure of being involved with 2 disability awareness and diversity related events this past week. It is possible that these events could lead to 2 or 3 screenings sometime in the near future.
“Drama Sighted” has also hit 2,023 views. http://cripvideoproductions.com/dramasighted.php

Now I am still in the process of casting a brand new film titled "A Stroke Of Endurance". It's about a disabled college student and how she slowly forms a friendship with a newly disabled college professor. There are themes about diversity and inclusion as well as friendship, and faith within the story. The entire film would be roughly 17 minutes in length.  I am trying to cast a mix of disabled and able bodied actors. I'm particularly looking for an actor about 30 to 40 years old who can play one of the professor characters, "Professor 2".  Do you know anyone who may be interested in acting pro bono for the film? Let us know!

March is Cerebral Palsy awareness month. Many of the characters in our films have Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy (often shortened to "CP") is a brain injury that happens before, during, or shortly after birth. It can be caused by lack of oxygen to the brain or conditions such as a fetal brain hemorrhage, which is very similar to a stroke, but in most cases the reason for the brain damage is unknown. Cerebral Palsy affects the motor areas of the brain in a vast amount of ways depending on where the damage in the brain occurs. It usually causes the muscles to be too tight (spastic) or too loose because the brain signals are constantly being misfired throughout the person's entire life. The misfiring can lead to issues with balancing, coordination, speech, proprioception, body alignment, and even a life long retaining of certain infant reflexes such as the Moro Reflex. The Moro Reflex is the startle reflex in babies and usually disappears when the baby is under 6 months of age but people with CP can have it as children and adults. It is essentially a built in pre programed fear of falling. CP can affect one side of the body (called hemiplegia) or both sides of the body. Every case of Cerebral Palsy is unique and can range from being so mild that it is almost unnoticeable to being so severe that the person uses a wheelchair full time. Most people with Cerebral Palsy in media are portrayed as having the more severe types so we at Crip Video Productions are interested in raising awareness of the experiences of those with more mild to moderate cases of CP.

As we have mentioned before on the Crip Video Productions blog and website we are casting again. We will need an actor with either mild Cerebral Palsy or a mild stroke to play a major role in the new film. All info about that is below.
