On this night in 2011 252 Alabamians would lay their head down for the last time on this earth. The memory of April 27, 2011 still haunts me; I don't know what emotion to feel. Those that died were parents, infants, city dwellers, and country folks. Some were college students, others senior adults. High income, low income... it crossed every socio-economic line.
To the young meteorologists who worked that day, know you did the best you could. Yes, the death toll was outrageous, and cannot be accepted by anyone in the weather enterprise considering there was an excellent early warning for all 62 tornadoes. Know we will get better, and stronger to honor the memory of those we lost on that late April day four years ago.
