Clark Planetarium's mission is to create and present enlightening experiences that inspire wonder in learning about space and science, and to promote greater public awareness of the science in our daily lives.

Clark Planetarium is home to the Hansen Dome Theatre, which shows original Clark Planetarium productions, made right here in Salt Lake City, Utah, by Planetarium staff, and also full dome features from other planetariums around the world. The Planetarium is also home to the Orbital ATK IMAX Theatre, where you can see IMAX 3D and IMAX experience films that will change the way you look at the world. Paired with free exhibit halls and science demonstrations for schools, Clark Planetarium is your one-stop science center in Salt Lake City.

We've lived in multiple states in pretty much all regions of the country. This planetarium is a fantastic place to take your kids (or heck, just take yourself). The giant globe that's projected onto is an awesome thing to just stand and stare at once you enter the building.

I take my boys here at least once a month. We have always had a pleasant experience. The only thing that I don't like is that there should be more interactive things. Apart from that, the planetarium is a really cool place and the theater is awesome with the dome roof. The gift shop also has really fun things that make unique birthday (or any other holiday) presents for your kids. I enjoy buying presents from there because they are educational and fun. :)

Fun place to visit, still need to see a movie here someday.
Response from the owner - in the last week
Hi Cecil, we recommend the currently playing "Journey to Space 3D" in the Orbital ATK IMAX Theatre, or Led Zeppelin, our in-house light show in the Hansen Dome Theatre. Glad you enjoy the planetarium!

Been going to the Clark Planetarium for about six years. I have four kids who are teen agers. We travel 3 hours to go to the planetarium so when we go we stay for the day and see all the movies and do all the activities. The fun is amazing, the learning wonderful, the adventures are endless. Buy a membership! Best gift you could give your child for christmas/birthday would be a family membership and have great memories to follow.

You call and it tell you to see their website for the most up to date information on hours, which is what we did. Their last showing was said to be at 11 pm on Saturday, so we went there and doors were locked and employees ignored us. Tried to call during regular business hours and they won't answer! Worst customer service ever! I hope they go out of business or change their attitudes.

Thank you so much for your review. You are correct that our last show on Saturday starts promptly at 11pm. For the safety of our employees and Planetarium guests, we do not admit entry to the Dome theatre, or to the Planetarium, after the last show has begun, even it is only 11:01pm. I am very sorry that you were unable to reach someone during regular business hours for the Planetarium. We work very hard to answer every call that comes in and every guest is important to us. I would love for you to email me at aoliver@slco.org and let me know what date and time you called. This will help us to track when we need more staff to answer phones. Thank you for your help and your comments.

Had a bad experience last night. Showed up 5 minutes late to the last show, were told we could still buy tickets. Went upstairs to the theater, door locked, no employees around. Back downstairs, got passes to come back next time (couldn't at least offer money back after 5 minutes?). Tried to look at some exhibits, and were unceremoniously thrown out by a rude employee who said (actual quote) "We're closed. Out." So don't pay attention to google's hours for these guys, apparently they close at 7, not 10:00. I've enjoyed a show here in the past, but with service like this, I don't even feel like using the passes they gave us to come back.

Hello Trevor, I am new to the Planetarium staff, and was reading through our past reviews and came across yours. I am very sorry that this occurred. You are 100% right that our hours were listed incorrectly on Google. I recently was able to get Google's help in fixing that problem. We do still have the policy that doors lock once the show starts in the Dome--that's a safety issue...since you've visited us before you know how dark it gets in there--and we do close the exhibits halls at that time. I know it's been about a year since you were last in the Planetarium, but I'm hoping that you'll give us another chance and let us make it up to you. If you receive this message, I hope that you will email me at aoliver@slco.org and allow us to make things right.

Lots of out of date info, very misleading. need more education than entertainment & shopping. The i max is uncomfortable and not sit right how you want to, to be able to see the screen not worth the 3d experience, unless you like neck cramp
