Forget Minetta Tavern, head to American Cut for the best burger in NYC. It isn't as Puritan as the burger at Minetta, since it comes with cheese and onions, but the burger itself still stands out as some delicious meat. The beer cheese is super goey and tasty. The beef itself is perfectly cooked to a real medium rare and seasoned deliciously. It will cost a fair bit more than shake shack, but you get a premium burger for it.

I had a lovely experience at American Cut. The service was very attentive and they really go out of their way to make your dining experience great. Our waiter gave us great suggestions about what food to order. We got 2 steaks and they were cooked perfectly. I wouldn't recommend the twice baked potato side just because it's very dry and hard on the outside since it's been sitting around. Everything else was great though!

Beautiful place and I loved the old school decor. It was very classy and sophisticated. The staff were lovely and made the experience even better. I went for restaurant week and had a lovely steak. The Jim Brandy oysters were delicious. I love oysters when they are done right, and here they were tasty with a creamy sauce which was broiled and it complemented the oyster nicely. The dessert was also delicious, had the candy bar cake. The only negative thing I would say, is that its expensive for my regular budget, but its a classy experience so definitely recommend it for restaurant week or special occasion.

Yum! Traditional American steak house with excellent wines to match. My partner the bacon cocktail which unsurprisingly was not to her taste

A lot of things stand out here - the sleek retro-luxe atmosphere, the exceptional food quality, the dedicated wait staff, and the full service bar. To start the old fashioned really is an experience, and is really done right. The food is fantastic (assuming you eat large portions of red meat), and the sides/appetizers/sauces, etc. serve as delightful accompaniments. The wait staff, decor, and atmosphere were all on point, everything was clean and inviting and it was an incredibly enjoyable, and expensive dining experience.

I was scheduled to meet a friend at at a great Tribeca Greek restaurant at 5 PM. Unfortunately Thallasa didn’t open until 5:30, and they weren’t nice enough to offer me a drink at the bar, so off I went. You can’t go wrong in Tribeca. There is something happening on every corner, so like I said, around the corner to American Cut. My friend arrived and we sat down in the bar area and ordered drinks. Great atmosphere, it was early so the noise level was muted and we were there to talk business so it worked out just fine. Initially drinks were all we were going to do, but I was getting hungry and suggested that we order something to nosh. We started with the shrimp skewers and the Buffalo chicken balls (at least that’s the name I remember). Anyway, both were excellent but the Pièce de résistance were the sliders. Most likely the best I have had anywhere, at any time. Perfect, sublime. Not to be missed! Not highly recommended, incredibly highly recommended. It’s three hours later, and I can close my eyes and still taste how good they were. So the decision has been made, while the steak is pricey,($145 for a Tomahawk ribeye??) I expect to go back for dinner and give it a whirl. Suffice it to say you can have a great time just eating from the bar menu, and that says a lot!
