I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours - Henry David Thoreau

Although there is much truth in this statement, it does not have to be that way. To truly be good to others and live a life where people appreciate who you are, you must begin to love and respect yourself. The next time you look in the mirror and look at the image you are seeing, give yourself a big hug! Tell yourself you are kindness, love, gratitude and more of the character traits that reflect your true self. Then go out into the world being those traits by expressing them every day. They are your true essence. When you do this exercise for only five minutes a day, you will discover yourself talking to yourself and the people around you with a more positive, empowering mindset more often. You will be talking to others the way you are talking to yourself – with self-compassion.

You can keep falling into the same hole even when you know it's there. The right medications, based with the right diagnosis, with a dedicated ADHD physician like John Bailey, can initially give your brain and pause button the ability to move further away from the hole. The right medications put you on a level playing field so you can see the hole more clearly each time. Eventually with enough practice you can completely avoid the hole. -David Giwerc

Some days it's not easy being me, but me is all I have. I accept and embrace my "me" because no matter how tough life may appear to be, it's the best me I have got. So, I make a choice to do something that reflects my unique talents aligned with a genuine purpose in my heart. I don't imitate others. I do what is honestly mine and don't worry about what others think. I choose to be me; and not some idea of what others think I should be. - David Giwerc

Just Write, Right Now -- Learn to Let Go of Your Internal Editor
Gaining a better understanding of my own ADHD helped me let go of my internal editor and write more freely.
