Why do these ego-maniac CEOs of mega corporations keep merging? Why do their boards sign off? Why does Wall Street go along?
By merging, these Big Guys make themselves more vulnerable to incursions from the outside, which in turn speeds the wholly beneficial process of Creative Destruction—so imperative in turbulent times.
I guess we can tolerate the Big Mergers more if we can just think about them as unassisted suicide.

The market is so very fickle, responding to weak and inconsistent signals like rumours and baseless prognostications but sadly that's the way it has always been and the job of an investor is to work through all the noise to determine the factors that will impact the long term performance of stocks or organizations.
