The daily grind, day after day, same old commute, same old sunrise and sunset pictures.

taken with a vintage lens from 1962, a German (Zeiss) - Japanese collaboration.  It was only $20, a 50mm f/1.7 manual focus lens (Yashica Yashinon-DS), with adapter to my new A7II.  The last photo is from a different $20 lens, made about the same year I was born in Soviet Russia--arrived today from the Ukraine.

Same photo, one straight from camera, one with the lower half lighter by 3.5 stops! Taken with a $20 vintage (1962 based on the serial number) 50mm f/1.7 manual focus lens (Yashica Yashinon-DS), with adapter to my new A7II.

Jared and Billy were polite, careful, courteous, and quick. We used Millennium to move some bulky furniture from Lakewood to Denver, and they did the whole job in 2.5 hours. I will use them again, and highly recommend them.

Shopping for snowboard goggles brought me in the store. BC has a large selection and a very helpful, knowledgeable staff. Despite their large selection, the very particular goggle that I wanted was a lower price online. The staff member I talked to was honest about not being able to match the online price and very cheerily advised me to snap up the good online deal. I'll be going back to support this brick-and-mortar store in the future because of their helpful, honest staff, large selection, and cool vibe.

I stayed at the Strong House Inn for a total of about 7 weeks at various times during 2013 while I was in the area for business, with a few extra days added for local tourist attractions. Mary, Hugh, Melissa, and their dog Duke made me feel right at home in the beautiful little town of Vergennes. Mary is a creative, excellent cook who serves a different wonderful breakfast every morning. (The reviewer that said a "dislike" was breakfast obviously didn't make any requests; on several occasions, Mary was happy to make me a variation of the day's breakfast at my request. I saw her take dietary restrictions and requests from other guests in stride.) I stayed in several of the rooms; they were all comfortable, well-maintained, and recently updated. The common areas (a library, a bar area, and the conference facility) are a great place to enjoy some quiet time in this historic building. All rooms had high-speed wi-fi. The grounds are immaculately maintained, and are perfect for an outdoor gathering or a short walk when the weather cooperates. I attended a couple of conferences in the new facility attached to the main building. The food that Mary cooked for these events was fantastic. The conference facility comfortably accommodated about 15 people, though more wouldn't have been too much of a problem. Mary and Hugh are local area experts, and provided me with lots of great advice on local restaurants, activities, and diversions. I highly recommend the Strong House to anyone who wants to vacation or work anywhere near Vergennes, and who wants to really feel at home while they are on the road.

I needed a well-used steel cyclocross frame stripped of old paint and powder coated. I shopped around several different places, and chose Spectrum because it was clear that they understood bicycles, and had very fair prices. Liz was professional, knowledgeable, and very responsive to my multiple email and phone requests for quotes, lead time estimates, etc. My frame (and the crankset, which I threw in at the last minute) were done within a couple of days, and look absolutely *fantastic*! The frame looks brand new! Attention to detail was obviously a high priority for the craftsman who masked and coated the frame. This shop knows bicycles, and treated this frame the way an auto body shop couldn't match. I could not be happier. My road bike will get another 30,000 miles, and I am now in the process of looking around my house for more stuff that "needs" to be powder coated by this terrific family-owned business. Highly recommend for any bicycle parts, road bikes, mountain bikes, touring bikes, or any other small parts and components that need to look sharp.
