I've recently had the chance to take photos of many of our educational birds at the Medina Raptor Center and have added them to my Galleries with the option to purchase different sizes or specialty gifts. All proceeds from the sales of these prints will be donated directly to center--these photos make excellent gifts for someone who loves birds and animals and the purchase will go to a fantastic cause!  =)
These are photos of captive educational birds at the Medina Raptor Center. The Medina Raptor Center is a Non-Profit Organization that relies on its volunteers and donations, and is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing raptors and songbirds that come into their care. All proceeds from the sale of these prints will be donated directly to the center so that it may continue its work helping these beautiful birds.

I have needed to get back to photography for ME and so I'm going to attempt a 365 project, focusing on getting photos of everything that catches my eye.  I have to re-find my passion for photography and shall!

Introduction
Married on June 8, 2007 to my husband Mike, and living in the house we built with our two cats, Loki & Butters.  In my spare time I go to as many zoos as I can, read, hike at the park trails and take many many many photos.  I like to not only share what I photograph but also whatever knowledge I've gleaned in the hopes that I can help someone.

I sell fine art prints and do wedding photography in order to make while I put myself through college for a Zoology degree.  I'm hoping to eventually marry my love for animals with photography--or just work in a zoo and use it as an opportunity to photograph them when I can.

I currently work as a volunteer at the Medina Raptor Center where I do mundane things such as food prep and cleaning enclosures for the permanent and temporary birds in our care, as well as doing exciting things such as learning how to properly handle a Great Horned Owl on my falconer's glove and going to programs to teach people about these magnificent birds.

I loved wearing hats before it was cool and I have had a Great Horned Owl sit on my falconer's glove.

I went recently with a friend to try out Sushi Rock, since I had heard nothing but great things about this place. When we arrived, I was impressed with the decor--it is very trendy, something I'd expect in NYC. The hostess sat us quickly and with a smile and our waitress allowed us the right amount of time to check out the (limited) menu before returning to take our order. She was always friendly and available when we needed it and our food came out in a timely manner, despite it being very busy, even for a Wednesday night. This is why I gave our service experience Excellent. The sushi, however, is another matter. I will preface this by saying that I eat sushi regularly and know good from bad sushi. For a place that has "Sushi" in its name, I would expect that it would dedicate more space to actual sushi and less to steaks and trendy appetizers. I would also expect that the sushi would be impeccably made, especially at the price that we paid. Sushi Rock has neither. The rolls are nearly all the same with little variation and I am confused why a thai chili sauce is going on a Japanese dish in nearly all of large rolls. We ordered two normal rolls and two specialty rolls, and all of them were exceedingly tasteless because the rice seemed like it was minute rice--dry and all pressed together. Even both of the specialty rolls could not disguise the poor rice quality and tasteless fish. In addition to the rolls, we ordered some nigiri sushi--fish should not be standing straight out from the ball of rice for the nigiri, it should conform to the rice, yet these very thin pieces of fish did, and they were very dry. In terms of quality of the food, I have had better sushi from the grocery store. All in all, it was a very expensive dinner for sub-par food. I will certainly not return to Sushi Rock and would not recommend anyone to come here--whether it is someone who enjoys eating sushi or if it is someone who wants to try sushi, as it will give you such a poor example of what it truly should be.

I recently brought my husband to this facility for a head injury after being refused care from the Medina facility, and was incredibly impressed with the friendliness, competence and efficiency of all the staff. The nurse who brought us back for the exam was very friendly and helpful and communicated with us very well everything that needed to happen. The doctor who administered treatment to the injury on my husband's head worked efficiently and ruled out unnecessary diagnostics (such as a costly CT scan) based simply by examining him and talking with him. He treated the cut quickly with some medical glue when I thought he might need stitches and then set us on our way. Although it's a few more miles out of our way, I will always come to the Twinsburg facility for any treatment we might need in the future.

Fantastic place for getting your nails done! I have been getting my nails done for about 15 years on and off and there are now three places I would recommend going back to again and again and Nail Studio 1 is one of them now. I went in to get a new set put on with pink and white acrylic and was able to walk right in and get taken care of immediately. Granted, I stopped in at 11 on a Friday so the lack of wait isn't surprising, but they do take appointments which I know I'll do when I plan on going during peak times. The girl who took care of me had me in and out with a brand new set of nails in under and hour which was amazing to me and they were done perfectly. I am so pleased with the service, prices and quality of work at this salon and highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a professional salon that delivers excellent and quality service.

I have been fortunate to have moved closer to Wadsworth, as it now allows me to enjoy what I feel is the best sushi restaurant in the Akron area. As a avid sushi eater, I have tried the various places--such as Sakura, Sushi Katsu, Wasabi, and Hibachi Japan--and this beats them all by a fair margin. The sushi is always fresh and prepared quickly by the head chef/owner and his othe chefs, and he will remember you after visiting him once. There is a wide selection of vegetarian and cooked fish for the faint of heart and asking for the "chef's recommendation" always leaves you satisfied with what you've been provided. I highly recommend making the trip out there, it will always be well worth the time and (as us sushi lovers know) money for a delicious and beautiful meal.

I am very disappointed in the level of care and service that this specific location provides. This morning my husband injured his head during a loss of consciousness and this location refused to provide any sort of exam and care to his injuries because they were unable to operate a CT scanner. According to what was relayed to us, (we couldn't even see the doctor, we just talked with the very polite and nice receptionist), the doctor wouldn't even think of looking at or addressing the cut on his head because they couldn't use a piece of incredible expensive equipment to check for concussion. We will never go to the Medina Urgent Care facility ever again based on this lack of compassion and care from the doctor on duty. Incidentally, when we went to the Twinsburg location, the doctor not only ruled out needing the CT scan by a simple examination, but also patched up the cut on his head quickly. So being turned away from the Medina facility was completely unfounded and cost us another 30 minutes driving elsewhere to get care that should have been given at this place.

After living in the area for a year, I recently decided to finally give the place a try. I called on a Saturday asking for the next available time and was given an appointment for Tuesday evening, which to me is a very reasonable time-frame. When I arrived, the receptionist staff was friendly and offered me a drink while I waited (since I was a little early) and Natalie was out within a few minutes. I only had a general idea of what I wanted to do with my hair, and Natalie worked with me, asking questions about cut and style, bringing out a book for me to look through photos until we both were on the same page about what to do, really LISTENING to me about what I preferred. For any woman, we know this is incredibly important so that we don't suddenly get a Frankenstein hairstyle. Part of their haircut is the shampoo with an amazing scalp massage, and during the whole cut process Natalie explained what she was doing and why. I felt very comfortable leaving my hair in her capable hands, and as a result, when I came home and showed my husband my hair, he asked how much it had cost and was surprised when I told him it was $28, commenting that it looked like a $70 cut. To the reviewer who complained about the "trash talk", I would say that this woman doesn't understand an environment where everyone is very close to one another and has a friendly rapport with each other. I prefer a place where I get to hear the talk between each other when there's a lull in my conversation with the stylist. I highly recommend this place and recommend Natalie. My wash, cut and style was $28 and I was never quoted any "tiered" prices like the previous reviewer. Everything was up front and explained to me along the way and the staff was friendly, helpful and extremely skilled. The owner Geri has evidently made Bellezza Avanti the place to go for a $70 hair service that costs only $28 without sacrificing a lick of quality.

I spent a lot of time researching places to get acrylic nails done--because as any women who has acrylic nails knows, not just anyone can provide this service well. I got them done at LV Nails for my wedding a week prior so my fingers wouldn't be sore, and was immensely pleased not only with the efficiency of the entire staff there, but the gentleman who provided me with my full set of pinks and whites. I just went back yesterday for a fill, and although it was three weeks old, the man who filled them for me still make them look brand new, and I was out of there quickly. They don't sacrifice quality here for efficiency, and although during peak times (weekend afternoons are usually the busiest) they can be daunting with their wait, if you go later in the evenings, there is little wait, even if there are three people sitting in the waiting area. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for affordable, efficient and high quality work.
