Voices From the Past
Bring your lunch to this midweek break that will both educate and entertain. Soft drinks and water provided. Free to the public. Doors open at 11:30 A.M. Program begins at noon. Voices From the Past is made possible by Humanities Washington.
The first speaker will be David E. Smith on Wednesday, January
13. Smith will present Religion and Human Rights: Allies or Enemies? This presentation will explore the many complex
and confusing dynamics existing between religion and human rights in relation to our rapidly changing society. He will ask questions such as: What is the relationship between religion and human rights? and Does religion affirm and support the concept of human rights, or does it prevent a society from recognizing the rights of all its members?
