Nice casual place for a Thomas Keller restaurant. The 4 course prefix menu changes daily. We had lamb shanks which were tasty. All in all, good food and good wine paring with the food. I wish we showed up on the night they cook fried chicken; I hear its divine.

- the prixe fix menu here is a great value for yountville - reservations are hard to get for normal dinner hours (7-9) so make them early - the atmosphere is really casual, you could come in with shorts and flip flops - staff are knowledgable about the food and are not pretentious - highly recommended!

My wife and I used a reservation at ad hoc as a "consolation prize" for failing to procure a reservation at the (much more expensive) French Laundry... and we were NOT disappointed. The food was fantastic. The beet salad (bacon dressing!), the flank steak, the crab cakes, the cheese course and the sundae dessert were all stunning. The fixed menu made for stress-free ordering; you get the best thing on the menu, every time!

I've been here twice, but I still haven't been able to try the famous buttermilk fried chicken since they only sold it on Mondays at that time (they recently opened another store that sells their fried chicken all the time). Everything is served family style and they only serve one set menu a night, but you'll like everything they serve, and if you want more, just ask. Many times they accommodate your request if they have enough in the kitchen.

Well done food and I love the concept. But it was just too loud and crazy expensive for what you get (portions were huge though). Wines by the glass are absurdly expensive. Glad I went, but won't go back.

The food was very fresh but JUST good. Not great. Not amazing. Not sure why we shelled out $250 for dinner. Over paid for a brand name chef.
