"To believe in Jesus means retiring and letting God take the mastership inside. That is all God asks of us." --Oswald Chambers, in If Thou Wilt Be Perfect from Quotable Oswald Chambers

"To say, 'I am not my own,' is to have reached a high point in my spiritual stature. The desire that comes into a disciple is not one of doing anything for Jesus, but of being
a perfect delight to Him. The secret is truly being able to say, 'I am His, and He is accomplishing His work and His purposes through me.' Be entirely His!" --Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest

There is no condition of life in which we cannot abide in Jesus. We have to learn to abide in Him wherever we are placed. --Oswald Chambers, in Our Brilliant Heritage from Quotable Oswald Chambers

"God does not slide holiness into our hearts like a treasure box from heaven and we open the lid and out it comes; holiness works out in us as it worked out in our Lord." --Oswald Chambers, in The Love of God--The Message of Invincible Consolation from Quotable Oswald Chambers

"Immediately you begin to forecast and plan for yourself, God will break up your programme; He delights to do it, until we learn to live like children based on the knowledge that God is ruling and reigning and rejoicing, and His joy is our strength." —Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Ethics from Quotable Oswald Chambers

"The joy of Jesus was His absolute self-surrender and self-sacrifice to His Father—the joy of doing that which the Father sent Him to do. Jesus prayed that our joy might continue fulfilling itself until it becomes the same joy as His. Have I allowed Jesus Christ to introduce His joy to me?" —Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest

"Whenever the Holy Ghost inspires the sacrifice, it is the sacrifice of ourselves for Jesus' sake, and that never blights, but always blesses. Half the heart-breaks and difficulties which some of us have hurried ourselves into would have been prevented if we had only dared to obey God in the power of the Spirit." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Ethics from Quotable Oswald Chambers

"So the three mighty men . . . drew water from the well of Bethlehem . . . and brought it to David. Nevertheless he would not drink it, but poured it out to the Lord." --2 Samuel 23:16

What has been like "water from the well of Bethlehem" to you recently--love, friendship, or maybe some spiritual blessing? Have you taken whatever it may be simply to satisfy yourself? If you are always keeping blessings to yourself and never learning to pour out anything "to the Lord," other people will never have their vision of God expanded through you. --Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest

"If we believe in Jesus, it is not what we gain but what He pours through us that really counts. God's purpose is not simply to make us beautiful, plump grapes, but to make us grapes so that He may squeeze the sweetness out of us. Now is the time for us to stop seeking our own satisfaction and to pour out our lives before Him." --Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest

"God has only one intended destiny for mankind--holiness. He came to save us because He created us to be holy. Atonement through the Cross of Christ means that God can put me back into perfect oneness with himself through the death of Jesus Christ, without a trace of anything coming between us any longer." --Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest
