First introduced in 2010, this cigar celebrated the 115th anniversary of J.C. Newman. The C middle initial stands for “Caesar”, and was misspelled on his immigration paperwork as Caeser. Rolled out of the Tabacalera A. Fujente y Cia factory in the Dominican Republic, the Pyramid landed at #25 on the Cigar Aficionado Top 25 list of 2011.

I’ve smoked a number of cigars from La Flor Dominicana but never any of the Cameroon Cabinet series. I am a big fan of Cameroon wrappers, so when I was presented a sample for review, it moved to the top of my list.

If you haven’t heard of the Casa Turrent before, or Alejandro Turrent, you’ve almost assuredly heard of San Andres Maduro wrapper. Nueva Matacapan de Tabacos is the largest cigar marker and grower of tobacco in Mexico. Also well known for their Te-Amo cigar brand, they announced the Casa Turrent line in early 2015 (although they’ve been available in Canada and Europe since 2013).

When I reviewed the La Escepcion Selectos Finos back in 2013, I commented that it was as near a perfect Cuban as I’ve ever had. The friend that had originally bombed me the La Escepcion Selectos Finos decided to follow up with a generous bomb of the La Escepcion Don Jose.

Today I’m reviewing another cigar that comes in a short package but doesn’t skip on quality or flavor. The Davidoff Escurio Petit Robusto (3-1/4”x50 RG), released in 2015. It was also released in Robusto (4-1/2x54 RG), and Gran Toro (5-1/2x58 RG) vitolas.
