Texas head football coach Blair Cherry used to receive menacing phone calls in the middle of the night during a 9-2 season. Dave Allerdice got tired of the "super critical nature of Texas fans," and he had a .825 winning percentage. In this week's Late to the Game, we look back on the pressure that has always faced Longhorn football coaches:

"I was sitting there saying, ‘If it doesn’t happen for me, the only thing I can do is just continue to work hard and pave the way for another young African-American who is going to come behind me.’ Our success is going to be judged on whether it’s going to open the door for someone else.”

In a day of interviews with ESPN on Wednesday, Charlie Strong talked about last year’s disappointing season, what it means to be an African-American head coach of a flagship football program, the battle for starting quarterback, and much more:

The future of race in admissions is once again headed back to the U.S. Supreme Court. The court announced Monday that it will rehear the case of Abigail Fisher, who sued UT after she was denied admission in 2008. In 2013, the justices punted the case back down to a lower court.

Editor's Note: The Texas Exes takes no position on the use of race in admissions.
