Love Asus support. I complained that new BIOS update breaks sound under Ubuntu and they should really warn users about that, and they recommended that I switch to Windows instead.

BTW this is the first ever BIOS update I did that have broken things.

First huntsman encounter. A baby one, just about 20 cents coin in size but wife still looking all around the corners for anything else that might have accompanied it.
Scary stuff.

So I bought DR-467i. It's quite good, actually, not so ugly as on marketing photos.
It fits my gear perfectly and have lots of space for non-gear items which is immensely important.
I put a 55-200mm lens to top compartment to show things in perspective on the photo, you can actually see how big it is.
As a feature, the padding from the bottom compartment can be taken away, the divider between compartments unzipped and you get just a normal backpack with lots of space. Not a terrible important feature but nice to have never the less.

It has few cons, most important one is that it has bottle holder just on one side. This means water supply is limited to 0.5l, not so good for family of three. Minor ones include breast strap that can not be taken out and highly visible over the shoulder and quite recognizable pictogram of a laptop.

All in all I'm quite happy with it so far.

I'm trying to decide on a photo bug and, well, there are too many choices.
Scanned through Kata offerings and now trying to narrow my choices further.
I liked both MultiPro-120 PL (http://goo.gl/8K5wM) and Owl-272 DL (http://goo.gl/Fmya0) about the same. MultiPro is newer but Owl is slightly bigger, that is all the difference I can see :)

I also looked at BumbleBee-222 UL (http://goo.gl/iC6UT), DR-467i Digital Rucksack (http://goo.gl/a8HFI) and HB-207 Hiker Backpack (http://goo.gl/LzTe6) but they seem to be enormous in size.
On the other hand I am not exactly sure how big they are as I haven't seen them ever.

So, can anyone give me advice on the subject? My needs are very simple, 15.4" laptop + DSLR with a lense + couple of small lenses + some fruits and veggies for the little one + bottle of water, that's all I want it to fit. It's mostly for lazy weekend trips somewhere outside but I'd like it to be able to hold a laptop in case of a longer trip.

Any other properties I should look for as well? I have completely no idea about what should I look for in terms of support or comfort or whatever.

PS. I went with Kata just because it is the only brand I knew :)

Interesting news but I don't have anything to say.

Gnome3 is surprisingly good. I definitely prefer it to Unity so far.
Hope someone does proper system monitor indicator though. Unity already has multiload, I want something similar.
