My first attempted. I did not style the food but just thought I would try the lighting. Stylizing the food will be my toughest battle but I will make it.

A Taco breakfast for this morning. I thought I would try a shot of it using my north facing window next to an east facing window. The food is obviously not styled but I am happy with the lighting and how the food looks under the light. I think it is a good start into my food photography endeavor .  Shot with an iPhone and processed in Filterstorm and Snapseed.

Hi David...I agree with you about the light, it brings out all of the vibrance in your food.  I always shoot my food in natural light also.  You picked the perfect window for this :)  Keep working on styling, it takes time...I am learning more all the time from reading books/magazines and following other bloggers.  Good luck!

I'm not sure but I think that Lilly was expecting to play and not have a portrait session. Sorry Lilly but you do look so good.

She does pose well but I do wish her left ear would match her right one.

Most of the pets I have shared has been of the cats but I do like dogs and got the chance to photograph Lilly, my Jack Russell. As much as I like a her button ear I do wish they would be synced with each other.

For portraits of felines it is best to create them at their home but with a little patience my friend Robin and I created these at my house today. This is Gigi who is a British Short Hair and related to one of my cats Sugar Bear. To create the lighting in the portrait I use a strobe and bounce it off the wall on the right or left depending on the position of subject.  I am a big fan of keeping things simple. Its hard enough to capture the right moment for a portrait without worrying about the light.

The holiday portraits from my morning session with Triskadeka. He was such a great cat for indulging us with the hats.

The best tool to capture an image is the one you have in your and and between your ears.
Introduction

Like most started taking photos in my teens. I have been a professional photographer in various incarnations 20 plus years. I love to learn new things along with new imaging tools. I truly believe if you know your craft you can create images on any camera given to you. No camera is beneath me.
