Today’s word prompt is ‘accept’ at Five Minute Friday writing group. I was ready to write about accepting God’s gifts – the first thought that entered my mind – but then I stumbled upon Biblegateway’s verse of the day that had the word ‘accept’ woven into it: Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Romans 15:7, NIV,*) This changed my take on the prompt. Do you know how to accept others just as Christ accepted you? How is it connected to accepting God’s gifts? Let’s see. https://buff.ly/2jPSlYh

Failure is something that we try to avoid at all costs. We think it will be the end of the world. Or, at least, the end of our personal world. But kingdom living IS upside down living. Failure is not the end in the kingdom of God. It is the beginning. Because when we have reached the lowest point, we are open for God in our lives. Then we are, like apostle Paul, ready to trust God and not our own strength. And when we are fully submitted to God, the real, grace-filled life begins.

Do you want to be happy? I think we all do. Too often people think that God would not want them to be happy. Like God’s goal would be to make you unhappy. That doesn’t ring true, does it? Quite the opposite is true in fact. God wants you to be happy with him. https://buff.ly/2xNF5cV

Do you think upright-living is uptight-living? Did you know that upright-living does not mean joy-less living? It means joy-filled living instead. Because upright-living is God-honoring and God is joy...

When things go south who or what does support you? Having a support system is one of those things in life that make a huge difference. There are times when we need support. When we are down or weary, we need someone to lift us up. Who does support you? What kind of support system do you have? Does it work?

One of my favorite quotes is this one by William Blake: “I myself do nothing. The Holy Spirit accomplishes all through me.” That’s what being a Christian means. It’s not about me or my (in)abilities. It’s about God and his abilities in and through me...https://buff.ly/2xzBdw9

Who are you listening to?
Who has the authority over your life?
These are more important questions than we might guess first hand. But our lives are what we believe. If we love lies, we practice lies. If we love truth, we live in light.

Do you have a lot of questions about life and faith? Are they keeping you away from God or are they bringing you closer to him? Don’t fight your questions, give them to God. He will answer them when you’re ready. Meanwhile, embrace your questions, live them and praise God in advance for answering you when the time is right. Instead of worrying about the answers, use your time more usefully: spend time in God’s presence. That’s from where all the blessings flow, also those that you didn’t know you needed.

Are you tired of waiting for God’s answers? I know how you’re feeling. But our feelings of desolation does not mean God has abandoned us. When we are devastated, God is nearer than we can imagine. These silent seasons of the soul are part of our journey. We don’t need to understand. We can just trust that God is at work even when we feel he doesn’t care... https://buff.ly/2eZSW7Y

What do you think? Does faith work or is it just a collection of meaningless religious rituals and a collection of outdated dogma? Too often people make their minds about this without testing it. Because if you do test-drive faith in Jesus, you will soon realize: it does work. How does it work, you ask. Let's see.
