I love this post.  Affirmations in the positive help me "drive towards" and I would rather be driving towards than driving away.  Besides, if my mind is on the negative, even in the sense of "going away," my focus is still on the negative.  +Dave Moore - this is a powerful post and one I will revisit in the future.

At the bottom of the article, I list my number one priority of a leader.  What quality would you put at the top?
I was one or two weeks into my new position as a Systems Analyst in an auto manufacturing facility.  I walked with my manager down the second floor hallway in one of the cleaner parts of the facility.  As we passed his new boss, my manager had some conversation with this man and then turned to me and shared what he considered to be the most important leadership quality.  Over time, I am convinced this is the most important leadership quality as w...

I just returned from a very productive committee meeting.  We reviewed minutes from last month's meeting, opened the floor to new topics, reviewed discussion items, and left with individual action items. The meeting was well-run.  In a professional way, I felt quite blessed.I feel that meetings have received a "bad rap" over the past few years.  We are in so many meetings that our bank of creative or production time is shrinking each day.  To fac...

A simple way to talk as equals at a Performance Review.
I sat on the side of the table where the evaluation faced me. Other times I sat on the side where I presented paperwork. But this time the evaluation stared up at me and my supervisor began to review the items listed on the review. In this particular review, I was being critiqued. I felt myself sweating, internally at least, and possibly externally.Since my M.A. degrees are in Communications and Education, I chewed on a set of best practices for ...

A good read about Audience and the speaker's Commitment to the topic.  Seems like the author had some training in Classical Rhetoric.  At least that's my thinking!
Storytelling is among the most ancient of arts. To hear a great story is to be touched in heart and mind, in body and spirit. The storyteller gives the tale; …
