- It seems more likely that the Queen will abdicate when she can no longer do the job. So that would make Charles' accession and her funeral two separate events.28w
- She doesn't seem into the idea of abdication, as she hasn't yet despite ample opportunity, and given compression of morbidity, she may have no chance to. I would bet more on her dying rather than abdicating.28w
- Compression of morbidity is a fair point, but she is currently doing what is expected of her, so I see no reason why she wouldn't abdicate once she's no longer capable of that.28w
- If she had any inclination to, she could've abdicated decades ago as she became increasingly frail and elderly and no one would've blamed her one bit. So I think she plans on dying in harness, just like her closest peer, Queen Victoria, or most modern popes.28w
