Went there on an August Friday which was quite crowded. We made a reservation but was taken to a small table and the staff was quite inflexible when we requested for a bigger table with more comfy seating claiming they are all taken. (We got there at 6:30 pm so they were all open at the time, though in a few hours they were packed.) There were also friendly wait to sum up, service was inconsistent. We were with our 9-year old son (which isn't quite in a high-end restaurant in most of Europe) who was a bit intimated by other guests at some tables who were very loud (just a bit drunk and having fun, as they should). So the combination of all that tarnished our experience. On the other hand, the food was very creative and consistently good (posted a few photos). Just be aware that each plate is a small portion, designed such that average guests would order 4 or 5 of them. I personally liked that style as you get to enjoy variety of dishes and try something new each time. I'd say our experience minus food was at most 3 stars...but the food compensated well to bring rating to 4.

One of the most memorable meals we had in Copenhagen. Larger portions than what we had expected, and the flavors and techniques were all masterfully treated. Dishes like 'Raw fried lobster with berries' and 'Raw cauliflower with salted butter and black truffle' (not everything is raw, I'm just a sucker for it!) really blew me away. The desserts were equally inventive and actually had bold flavors, often savory, that are usually absent on desert menus. Mine, for example, had a 'Wasabi toffee' which really did have the nose-burning spiciness of Wasabi. A friend's dish had liquorice, which came through in all its bitter glory. Paired with an imaginative bar program and beautiful settings, this really is a restaurant to remember.

Outstanding dining experience, great service, they know their shit. We sat at the bar and had wines recommended.

Visited last night - looked nice from the outside.. but that's about it After bland & ridiculous cocktails we ordered raw meat and veal sweetbread. Awful taste. Only could have 1-2 bites. Got food poisoning during the night (suspect raw meat!!!) Shame shame shame

In brief, unacceptable service and too many hidden fees! -We booked a table and were placed at a bar (the tables are reserved for VIP's of their own choice!). -Too many 'hidden fees', the prices on the menu are for micro dishes; they recommend 5 dishes pr. person! The waiter kept filling the still water automatically & charged us 3 times for it in the end. Why this dishonest?!...

Over a year later and I'm still having very pleasant, and slightly naughty, dreams about the pork belly and truffle dish I had at Geist back in November 2012. I'm pretty sure that night I had to redefine the term "foodgasm": claiming that my mind was blown would be a ghastly understatement. We ate in the bar, and had before us the scene of the omnipresent Scandinavian open kitchen to entertain and delight our senses throughout the meal. We used the opportunity to investigate what others were ordering; watching chefs set fire to various plates of food to create culinary masterpieces, and allowing ourselves to be wrapped up in the orchestrated chaos that is many a restaurant kitchen. Our cocktails were the art of well-trained mixologists (either that or fool-proof recipes, can't be sure), and every plate set before us was not only beautiful to look at, but an absolute thrill to eat. I love a restauranteur who mixes unexpected elements and challenges the senses to redefine flavor using the simplest of ingredients, and Bo Bech is definitely doing that here, without pushing the limits too far over the edge. I had a conversation last night with two girlfriends over dinner about most memorable meals eaten in CPH in the past year. Geist easily made it to the top of my list.

Made reservations weeks in advance for our last night in Copenhagen. Not shown to a table but to the bar for dinner. Objected and made to wait and finally shown to a table. Service was terrible competing with food that was excellent. This was on June 22, 2014.

fantastic atmosphere, food, and drinks. the cocktails were really interesting -- had a black tea, lemon, chocolate concoction that was amazing.
