Basic Information
What turns me off about PlaySpace is how blatant and aggressive they are about trying to squeeze as much cash out of you as possible. Not only is a 5.90 entry fee for a 3 year old quite high in comparison to other local activities (i-play, Hungry Caterpillar, Hartcliffe gym are all better value and only the gym has a time limit) but it is galling to charge adults entry. Adult entry should be included in the child's price, it is insulting to have an extra charge for adults, and a deterrent to me in terms of considering going there with grandparents or friends without children. We were there during half term which considerably jacks up the price as well. We were told that as it was busy we were only allowed to stay 2 hours (wristband system). Ok, I understand the need for turnover. But if the high price would be for all day at a less busy time, then how about a reduced rate for only being allowed 2 hours? Honestly, I felt ripped off the entire time I was there. I resented the adult charge, the time limit without a discount, and being forced to buy any food or drink from the premises. My son had an alright time on the softplay structure but many of the staff were brusque or plainly disinterested. Overall, the money-grubbing attitude of the place turned me right off of wanting to return or recommend it to anyone. We may return but only during non-term time and on a Tuesday when it is 2-4-1. I simply cannot justify the cost otherwise, especially if sometimes we are going to be given a time limit.
