What is Australia's most iconic site? A recent survey shows that 57% of Australians believe Uluru is the nation's most iconic landmark…. We’d have to agree that it’s one of the most recognisable scenes in the world, often referred to as the spiritual heart of Australia. #NTAustralia   #Uluru   #SeeAustralia   #Australia   #travel   #NorthernTerritory   #Clouds   #sunset

NT Adventurer of the Week: Beauty of a sunset captured by @mewyyy(via IG) in Darwin! Stokes Hill Wharf is not only a great place to dine and unwind but it's also full of history relating back to 1942 where it bared the full force of the Bombing of Darwin. #NTAustralia

Rolling and twisting across the country like the giant caterpillars from Aboriginal Dreaming, dotted with gorges, chasms, waterholes and ghost gum trees… We’re talking about one of the world’s best walking tracks, the Larapinta Trail! A must do in Alice Springs. #NTAustralia   #LarapintaTrail   #WestMacDonnellRanges   #Hike   #Worldsbestwalks   #SeeAustralia   #Travel   #quote   #quotestoliveby

Territory True: There is more to the MacDonnell Ranges than just great places for hiking, camping, picnics and swimming! Renowned Aboriginal artist Albert Namatjira drew inspiration for his watercolour outback landscapes from the West MacDonnell Ranges. #NTAustralia   #NorthernTerritory   #Australia

Just another glorious day’s end in Australia’s tropical capital with harbour views all around! #NTAustralia

This is this City of Darwin: In the front is the Darwin Waterfront and Stokes Hill Wharf, the foreshore to the middle left is the Esplanade (which runs alongside the city) and at the back is Cullen Bay and Mindil Beach (where the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets are held).

Today marks the 72nd anniversary of the bombing of Darwin – During WWII Darwin was bombed 64 times over almost two years, with the first two raids alone on 19 February 1942 resulting in the deaths of an estimated 243 people and many more injured.

Bombing of Darwin Day is a National Day of Observance and remnants of WWII are still visible at many locations across Darwin, Katherine and Adelaide River today.

Territory True: “I’ll slip another shrimp on the barbie for you” was made famous by Paul Hogan 30 years ago, but the ad features a much bigger Australian icon and timeless beauty – Uluru. #NTAustralia
