Today was one of those days when you feel like the luckiest person (nanny) in the world when you find a rogue shopping cart on the harbor. You just know karma put it there for you and your three ducklings. Today was one of those days you feel like the lucki...

ROMAnce
We spent 5 days in Italy last week. Three days in Rome, two days in Latina (30 min. south of Rome). For me, it was the best trip we've had in Europe so far. It was so historical, so ancient, so breathtaking, and so romantic. We couldn't walk anywhere withou...

Latina, Italy with my cousins. Latina was/is a fascist city built by Mussolini. It is a small town but the fascist attitudes live on in the economy and architecture, which have been put to a halt because of greed and corruption. My family took great care of us and we learned so much about this part of Italy. They cooked for us! We were so lucky.

Bernini's Four Fountains, Caravaggio paintings, and the Pantheon. The Four Fountains resemble the great rivers of the four continents known at the time. I love Caravaggio's work for his ability to create images from shadows. These paintings are so symbolic. John and I love learning about art and symbolism.

It could also be a reminder of what is at the core of our world, our earth, our lives. Gravity. Stay grounded.

Our first evening in Rome. We went to the Colosseum and ate gelato. John had his first Italian gelato ever. We visited the Saint Maria Maggiore Cathedrale.

Little Olly (Oliver) dying his egg yellow I was not sure how to make cool designs on the eggs so I just wowed them by mixing colors. Wow, Jess! Bunny masks. Non-cursive and cursive. Edgy. John and I spent an entire evening making these homemade baskets out ...
