An Ohio county has proven successful in handling domestic violence cases in a way that allows felony offenders to seek treatment rather than face jail or prison time. Summit County created the state’s first Felony Domestic Violence Court in 2011 and has seen several success stories in the process. It works similar to diversion courts where the offenders can complete a specialty program to avoid harsh punishments.

As of now, Franklin County has no such program and people facing domestic violence accusations may need to speak with an attorney. Learn more the consequences associated with domestic violence charges and how an attorney can help.   #domesticviolence   #Ohio

This conversation has even entered local college classrooms and a recent article explores the “Marijuana Law, Policy and Reform” class taught at Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law.

In the class, Professor Douglas Berman shows students how marijuana legalization can affect banking, taxation, criminal justice and politics. The class is also a lesson to show the complexities that arise when state and federal laws conflict. Read more here. #marijuanalaw   #OhioState

While the nation is amidst a heated debate about the legalization of marijuana, the substance is still illegal in Ohio. Some individuals fail to recognize how even a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana can affect their future. Depending on the amount of marijuana you are charged with being in possession of, you could face fines, probation and even possible jail time.

Our firm represents adults and minors throughout Ohio, including Dayton, who are facing a first time or complex marijuana charges. We are members of the NORML Legal Committee and fight hard to defend our client’s futures after an arrest. #marijuanaattorney  #Dayton
