I should say from the start that I do not expect to make any money from this, but I'm having a little play nonetheless.

This 2W ASIC AntMiner cost £65, it is hooked up to my Raspberry Pi and as of this evening is mining for BitCoins at 1.6 GHash/s.

If BitCoin stays around £500/coin, this should mine at a rate of around £9/month. But who knows what the price will do next. We will see...

I don't quite understand the setup there - what is the miner plugged into? I was guessing USB hub, but there's no other devices plugged into it so why have the hub? Or is it just a plug-space problem?

Yeah, this is how they found the problems with the RF fingers back in 2007/2008. Surprisingly low tech solution!

+Ben Wynne, this should make it clearer. The Pi is in its little hollowed out book where I keep it, with power, Ethernet and USB going in. The AntMiner is connected to a small powered USB hub as the Pi cannot supply very much juice over USB. On top now are a random assortment of heatsinks I pulled off of an old motherboard. The top ones can probably come off soon, they're more there for extra weight while the thermal paste sets. As a result, I'm now overclocked to a stable 2 GHz.

I have currently mined 543 £/BTC * 0.00248360 BTC = £1.35 of BitCoin, go little AntMiner go!

It's got a user-selectable frequency, though I don't know how it achieves this internally. 2 GHz is about the most you can push it at stock voltage. They do show you what resistors need tweaking to up-volt it for more on http://freepdfhosting.com/f08921e50a.pdf but I'm not going to go that far.

ATLAS this morning. The endcaps are out, the pixel is coming out (sadly at the far end, so not visible from the gantry) and the panorama feature of my phone overall seems a bit gimmky. I guess it works better over longer distances, it cut me in two!

Buggered if I know I'm afraid. I know that the default Camera app on the S3 has a panorama sticking mode, but it appears that as far as any other software is involved all that is produced in a particularly wide JPEG.

A, shall we say,  unorthodox way of broaching introductory quantum mechanics.
