Out of Tatlanika. I headed up through Nenana and into the hills before Fairbanks. To change things up, i took the "old Nenana Highway" that was well worth the diversion

The actual events of the movie "Into the wild" took place on what Alaskans know as the stampede trail. (the movie was actually filmed in Cantwell about 50 miles south). These pictures are about 12 miles up the stampede trail. From this point it becomes a bit more of a challenge, and since I was tired, and sporting a fully loaded GS I stayed out of the tundra.

Just after the last north bridge over the Nenana river there is a jeeproad to the east. I took it, and this is where it took me.

This was taken from a couple miles up the park road at Denali national park. Show a little perspective. The sign said "no stopping anytime for any reason" so I didn't dally, but, i did get a couple pictures.
