I watched the Fox show "Touch" tonight. I had it on my DVR for a while and decided to give it a try. I was curious what the title, "touch" meant. The show is about a single father with an autistic child that can only communicate by seeing patterns and meanings in numbers. The father played by Kiefer Sutherland tries to connect with his son by following his son's lead to see where the numbers lead them. During the show several different stories play out concerning different sets of individuals from different parts of the world. As the story lines play out it seems that each story is connected by the sets of numbers that the autistic child is obsessed with during the episode. Like a puzzle the pieces begin to fall into place and the different story lines come to fruition and in some way positively effect another individual or group of people somewhere else in the world.
After watching the show I think I know what the title means. It is meant to represent that we humans are all interconnected somehow. That if an individual does some small positive act, however insignificant, it can set in motion a chain of events that can change the course of lives.
I think it means that we all "touch" each other and can have a positive effect on this troubled world of ours no matter how small it may seem to be. After all we are all members of this race we call humanity and what is wrong with trying to change it for the better.
After watching the show I felt somehow uplifted and hopeful, if only a little. What more can you ask from an hour investment.
