Our new Library is finished and our students love it! After many hours of work over the summer by staff and parent volunteers, we now have a beautiful new room filled with thousands of books to enjoy. Read more about why we are so excited to have this new library, on our website blog.

Our 4th grade students held their ever-popular "Wax Museum" event at school recently, with rave reviews from parent, student and staff visitors to the "museum". All of the kids were in costumes, portraying well-known historical figures, and standing in front of their backdrops as still as can be. Wax Museum visitors walked around the room, looking at the famous people, reading the backdrops, and pushing the display "buttons" to hear students tell about the life of their historical figures and why they were important.

We are blessed with parents who strengthen our community with their presence in our classrooms, and who share their expertise with our students. Today's 6th grade heart dissections provided our students with hands-on learning they will remember for their lifetime. Thank you, Dr. Samuel Youssef, for sharing your heart with us today ~ figuratively and literally!

How does your child learn best? Our teachers offer instruction in various modes, including auditory, visual, and sensory-motor. Why? One reason is because our chances of successfully retrieving information are influenced by the number of pathways we create to find it. Offering multi-modal choices to demonstrate learning is equally important, so that students can use modes in which they are most comfortable to express their knowledge. Visit our classrooms, and you'll see student projects such as this 2nd grade animal habitat diorama, a great example of the multi-sensory opportunities our students participate in every day.

Art teacher Brett Weathers taught his 8th grade classes the paper quilling technique recently, with beautiful results! You can see their colorful reproduction of Robert Indiana's LOVE painting outside the Chapel the next time you visit. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, love your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27 #paperquilling #loveart #lovegodwithallyourheart

Thank you Eastside Christian School and the entire Eastside community! This year, with your generosity, we sent more than 1,800 shoeboxes filled with love to Operation Christmas Child. OCC will be delivering these boxes to children around the world, sharing the love of Jesus with families in need. Mrs. Hernandez shares: “Our class is making a 'Vision Quest' chain. We started by discussing how worship, confession, thanksgiving and supplication help us see God more clearly, and now we are keeping our eyes open to how He is at work in our lives. Every week we stop and add links to our chain. Each link has a prayer or a story of seeing God working. The chain already reaches halfway across our room!”
