Why is Google in the business of offending a whole country? This is not something I've made up but can be proved at Google's Map service.
I've noticed recently that in Google Maps you can see how international borders have each side written in the original language of the country it is suppose be on, so, for example, Germany is written as "Deutschland", Italy as "Italia", France as "France" but, hold on there, Spain is written as "Espanya", not "España". This is not in Spanish, but Catalan, one of the minority languages in Spain, along with Galician and Basque (and quite a few others). If Google answers that the "ñ" letter cannot be used or shown for the international borders, I would say they are outright lying as Cyrillic, Chinese and Arab characters are shown profusely throughout the maps, including the international border labels.
Two weeks ago I gave them notice about this, but they've yet to react. Does it really take that much to pick up a dictionary, check the spelling, and fix the error? I don't believe so, and I work the IT service so I know what I speak of.
So, the question remains: why is Google in the business of deliberately pissing off a whole country?
