Former factory is now a casual, cafe-style space & patio for omelettes, pancakes, burgers & more.- Google
"California crepe, bombero burrito, biscuits and gravy and the day starter."
"Great original eggs benedict!"

Fantastic breakfast food. Worth the wait (And besides, you can just browse the Sock Shop next door while you're waiting). Sat outdoors, which was a little gross because pigeons swarm onto tables pretty soon after the customers leave (If the plates aren't cleared fast enough). As a result, every outdoor table is armed with a squirt bottle to help fend them off (Which is kinda funny to see, but it's not actually necessary to take up arms. It seemed that the pigeons had vaguely enough sense to keep their distance until they were sure a table was unoccupied). You will note, no doubt, that even the spectacle of seeing tables swarmed by sky-rats did not sufficiently alter my opinion of First Awakenings to the point where I would dock them any stars.

The food was okay, the place didn't look very clean, so that deducts a lot of my points. Lots of seating and was decently busy for breakfast. Wouldn't go back as it was nothing special. Service was a bit slow as well.

Fun spot for breakfast or brunch, very low key with solid hearty fare.

Amazing peach-coconut pancakes & delicious potato hash with eggs that tastes like qīngjiāo níuròusī 青椒牛肉丝.

Excellent food. The pancakes are huge, so be mindful of how much you order. A must try in the Monterey area.

Waited forever for a table. Hostess was mute. Everytime we would go up to ask where we were on the list she would say just a few minutes. Originally told 30 min wait, after 1 hour we just left. Many vacant tables for long periods of time. Seemed as if they managed it better they could have gotten people in and out faster. Food looked and smelled good, but never got close enough. They could have done twice the amount of business with better staff. I am sure management would not be happy to hear about poor hostess and wait staff on a busy Sunday, with record temperatures in Monterey!
