This is the first thing I need to teach the #googleassistant on #allo. It's politeness is annoying me.😝

I faced serious performance issues on my #lenovo #k3note after using the background apps settings. I hit disable all and then selecting the allow option very selectively to the apps in the list to the ones that in my mind should be the only ones always in the background.

After this I observed progressive performance degradation. To the point where the mobile was becoming close to unusable. It had been a while since I had made that change and I luckily remembered it and reset it. The results were starting. Immediate performance improvement without a restart.

Don't know if others have experienced such issues too.

If that was indeed the issue (almost certain) then should an option to disable all even be in there. It should instead be replaced with an option called optimize for performance which leaves very little room for users to muck up...

Any thoughts on this?

The best thing about this story? Except for one detail, it's true. He was a graduate student, not a freshman. See http://www.snopes.com/college/homework/unsolvable.asp for the details. I love the way Donald Knuth, is mentioned in passing in the story!

Automatic  - plugs into a car’s diagnostics port to display data on your phone

The Automatic adapter plugs into the standard diagnostics port hidden under the dash in most cars since 1996. The Automatic app pairs with the adapter and displays useful information about your car and driving habits.

Automatic diagnoses your check engine light with easy-to-understand descriptions of what’s wrong. Clear the light right from the app if it’s something you can fix yourself, like a loose gas cap. If it’s serious, a listing of well-reviewed mechanics is just a tap away.

To help you save money on gas, the adapter’s built-in speaker can remind you to drive more smoothly and efficiently. Audio alerts signal when to ease off the gas and brake pedals and help you avoid high speeds. The app shows your progress and scores your driving each week.

Automatic works with two popular wearable devices, the Apple Watch and Pebble Classic. See where you parked with a glance at your wrist. Tag trips as “business” with a tap (Apple Watch only).

Set custom low-fuel warnings so you never have to fear the dreaded “No gas station for 100 miles” sign (Works in select cars).

Check your car's compatibility at https://www.automatic.com/cars/.

There are also additional apps at https://www.automatic.com/apps/ that can make use of the adpator.
