Last night's sewing project. It's a chest protector for my coworker who is having heart surgery. She wanted to make sure her incision would be protected when in the car and at other times.

The pillow has foam inside (3 layers!) and the outside of it is waterproof and is removable so the rest can be washed. It is made from flannel so it is really soft.

I think it came out well for something I had no pattern for! And it fits her perfectly. My only measurement was a piece of yarn I used around her chest. And, I have no idea what the number is because it didn't matter to what I was doing, which is something I think she appreciated. All told, it cost about $10 to make and would have taken a lot less time had I been able to use my sewing machine. Phew!

When I crash one of these water bottles I feel a little bit like the Hulk. "Me crush puny bottle!" goes thru my head every time. #nolie

w00t! My A1C went from 7.9 on May 10 to 6.7! That's a huge reduction in less than 60 days. And, she's reducing one of my meds by half to help level out my sugar lows. happy dance Needless to say, I was bouncing out of the doctor's office.

I have an event I've been planning for a few months now that will be on Saturday. I've never planned an event from scratch before so it has been an interesting challenge that my social anxiety has been an issue but I've been able to overcome it when I've needed to. Not having a choice about it helps a lot!

I was saying to my manager earlier that I wanted to be nervous about it but I'm really not. It is a very low key event and we don't have any real expectations on how many will be there as it is a random probably-never-happen again event as it was tied into a marketing campaign. The weather is supposed to be gorgeous, it shouldn't get much above 70F before noon, and it is supposed to be sunny.

I'm actually pretty pleased with myself for it, even if I didn't do everything others suggested I do. They didn't step up to help plan it so they don't get to boss me around with their ideas at the last minute!

While we also didn't get as many sponsors as we'd hoped (the goal was $2000, we got $1150), it is still more money than we would have gotten otherwise (including new donors!) and it is only going to cost about $50 for marketing stuff. Maybe a bit more if we end up having to pay for the water and oranges, though I may just donate them since I have the money available to do that (it will be about $10).

I still have a few items available on my Etsy account. I hope to have more soon, including crocheted colorful dog poo bag holders (with a set of bags included), cat butt coasters (not shown), flying discs, and tablet covers. I may even have a dog sweater with matching dog poo bag holder.
