A little irked by the tone and skepticism with which some ask the question, "What can you do with a degree in anthropology," I've decided to address the quandary with an infographic. Often, I’m con...

This is excellent. You should include links to your Prezi in the description.

I love your modular videos, because they serve as a guide for buying modules on a budget by addressing their lesser known functionalities.

The time has finally come. I have been anticipating this moment for four years, and now that it is upon me, I am both riddled with anxiety and beaming with excitement. It’s time to apply to graduate programs to begin in the 2...

At the end of December, I had an article appear in Popular Anthropology Magazine. In the interest of supporting this fine publication, I'm going to link to the article here (PDF), rather than repost it. Also, be sure to check...

Thank you very much. It means a lot to me to give credit where credit is due - I would not be where I am were it not for the faculty that saw something in me and fostered it. I appreciate your kind words. Cheers.

C'est en faisant n'importe quoi, qu'on devient n'importe qui.
Introduction

I am an anthropology student in limbo, having just finished a Bachelor's at Cleveland State University and about to start a PhD program in Sociocultural Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis in Fall 2014.

My research interests vary widely within Medical Anthropology - from STS and social theory to health care utilization and ethnophysiology. In 2012, I researched treatment-seeking behaviors, ethnobotany, and medical pluralism in Dakar, Senegal. In 2013, I returned to conduct fieldwork on men's reproductive health and sexual behavior. I would like to build upon this work for my graduate research.

For four years, I have been the project cartographer and surveyor for the Archaeological Investigations in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I have taught, been a Teaching Assistant, a Research Assistant, and a Lab Assistant, and I have tutored for anthropology courses and managed the Archaeological Curation Lab. I have published (not peer reviewed), presented, and won a number of grants, scholarships, and awards, including being named the Emerging Leader in Medical Anthropology by the National Association of Student Anthropologists and Society for Medical Anthropology in 2012. I was the valedictorian of my graduating class in Fall 2013.

After graduating from CSU, I am now pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology and a Master's of Public Health. My professional goals are to teach, contribute to bodies of knowledge, and engage the public.

I live in Lakewood, just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, with my partner-in-crime and our two obnoxious cats. I write a blog called "Anthropology Attacks!" and I also write for a little blog called "Savage Minds."
